Hey everyone. I'm new to making knives. I just got a Damascus and Stainless blank to make my own knifes. I need help with the proper way to attach the handles/scales. What epoxy is the best? Can you get pins locally or are these pins special? Thanks in advance guys

Generally speaking, the slower the set, the stronger the epoxy. I have used and trust both Gflex and acra-glass. Don't go to Lowe's and buy the cheap 5 minute stuff.... just don't.

Brass brazing rod works quite well for pinning handles.

Read the stickies...:)

What he said, Many also swear by J&B Weld and my favorite, Loveless Style bolts, You can buy the proper step drill from these folks as well.

Did you get blanks as in they already have bevels and all you have to do is attach scales and sharpen?

Sorry Greenjebadiah, didn't see your post. Yeah my first knife is a blank that's already pre-shaped. I just have to build my scales and then sharpen my blade. Still looking for a good sharpening method, I've always just used the 3 stones that my old man showed me when I was a youngster
