Hopefully someone knows this guy and can help me out or perhaps he'll see this and get back in touch with me.

Got an email from 'Sam Wereb' from werebknives.com responding to my post stating interest about the Arclite. He had the non-serr and I sent his USPS MO 11/20 and the Delivery Confirmation stated he received on 11/24. HOWEVER, he did not confirm receipt until 12/2 which is curious but I guess could be explained if he was using a PO Box but the address appears to be a house street address. I asked him initially to confirm sent date, got no response so I emailed him about 10 days later requesting info and no response until 12/20 when I get this reply:

-----
'Sean, you are absolutely right, and I am sorry to have neglected you. I have been through the trials of Job here, lately, and have been way behind on everything. You'll have the knives by Xmas, guaranteed. I will
check the shipping date and email it to you.' Sam
-----

No dice! I send other follow up emails on the 26th, the 29th and on the First I send:

-----
'Hey Sam,
Hope all is well and you had a wonderful holiday season. Just checking again on the Arclite. I've learned from posts on BFC that the knives did become available around Christmas so that answers part of my question. It has still been nearly two weeks since hearing from you the last time by
email and going on 5 weeks since you received my Money Order for this knife. It is still too incredible to me that you would risk anything over $23.50 BUT I am getting to the point where I have no choice but to pursue
further action. I need to hear from you by Friday Jan 5, 2001 or I will take the following action:

1. You have received and probably cashed a USPS Money Order. I will report that as Mail Fraud to the US Postal Inspector who will keep a record of you and your business for any future infractions and will also investigate this instance.

2. You contacted me on BFC regarding availability of these knives. I will
post in the 'Good, Bad & Ugly' Forum the particluars of this transaction quoting all emails specifically where you "guaranteed" arrival before Christmas as well as the timelines between email responses which are
irresponsibly overdue.

You've stated you have gone through rough times and I understand that all too well but you have now declined or have been unable to respond to my recent emails and when communication stops you leave me with no further alternatives other than to protect others from being treated similarly. I'm not going to make empty threats but I will remind you that maintaining a solid reputation is quite important in this business and especially on BFC and I feel that if I post this information it will definitely have a negative impact on you and your business. The money is a wash as I simply wanted the knife but I will methodically pursue all avenues available to me in order to rectify this situation and, as I've stated above, protect others. Please, regardless of what you are going through, contact me by
January 5, 2001 no later than 10 pm Pacific Standard Time or I will execute the above actions online immediately at that time and will follow through to the full extent of my ability.'

Sincerely,
Shawn

So, now it is after that time and still no response. I'm posting here then headed to the USPS site to file a complaint.

I am still beside myself that this would happen over $23.50 so leads me to believe something is going on with the guy but I still really have no choice at this time. Does anyone know him or have contact or ever dealt with him before? I do NOT want to shred this guy over a simple transaction but have been legitimately taken to a point where I feel I have no choice. The neat thing is that all the tools I used to communicate and deal with this situation I learned right here in GB&U! So now I'm hoping someone here can help me out again. The guys name is supposedly 'Sam Wereb' and the address I sent the MO to is in Columbus Ohio. An interesting aside to this is that the only response I got after sending the email on the First was from 'Thomas Anderson' which stated:

-----
'NOTED!'
-----

???? I've seen Thomas Anderson's name on the Forums before and was wondering if perhaps this was the same guy or a mistake but I replied to the 'noted' email at:

andersontech@webtv.net

Got no response after asking what the email was all about and whether it were meant for me or not. Sam Wereb email comes from:

werebknives@yahoo.com

So, if anyone can help out shoot me an email or post here. Sam, I hope to hear from you!

Shaking my head in amazement... $23.50!!??

Shawn

I am tracking this guy down as he has outright LIED to several members including saying that he had the knives IN STOCK when in fact he did not.

Keep us posted and I will try and get a phone number and other info soon.

Looks like myself, Joker 354, Dennis Bible were all taken by this guy and with no resolution to date. Anyone else out there? Weird that Sam Wereb would deal with people that have been around here awhile. This whole situation still sounds very odd and may work out to be a mistake but until I get some communication will continue to pursue it further.

I have filed a Mail Fraud Complaint with the USPS Postal Inspectors Office and here's the link:

http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/

*Follow the link to the bottom of the page where it says "File A Mail Fraud Complaint"
and you're good to go.

I urge anyone who has been taken by this guy to do so.

Here's the information on this guy for anyone that doesn't already have it:

Sam Wereb
'WerebKnives'
1971 Ramble Branch Drive
Columbus, OH 43220
614-459-9085

I think I've covered all bases with this guy and hope he contacts someone to resolve this problem and I hope I get that Arclite!

Shawn

Thanks Emany, for the heads up on this guy. He sounds like a failure to me... Good luck!

Sam,
As I mentioned in the last email to you I did follow through with my actions at BFC and USPS. After posting on BFC I learned you did nearly the exact same thing to at least two other Forum Members there. You lied about the availability as I have checked your information versus that of Will Fennel from Camillus who stated you could NOT have had the knives when you offered them. You also posted a discrepancy in your prices stating mine would cost $23.50 shipped and another Member would need to pay $27.50 PLUS shipping. You then disontinued communication
with all of us! You are facing a BAN on BFC secondary to your actions and inactions and it is going to snowball from there with the USPS next and I also learned I can contact the Better Business Bureau on the net with whom I will also file a complaint. Please, if you have any regard for your reputation and your business, get in touch with myself,
Joker354, or Dennis Bible and let's rectify this situation. Get into 'Good, Bad, & Ugly' Forum and plead your case and MAKE THINGS RIGHT!

***If someone is reading this email BESIDES Sam Wereb PLEASE tell him what is going on or contact me by replying to this message!

I think a Ban is the only way to handle this situation and if he then makes things right with the three of us we can contact Mike requesting his unbanning.

ET- from the e-mail address you posted, Tom Anderson is the custom knifemaker that has been posting here and at KF lately, and I'm sure he's in no way involved with this Wereb fiasco.

Richard,
Yeah, I'm sure that it was just coincidence and that I got that email by mistake but thought I'd include it just in case there was a connection. I never did hear back from Thomas Anderson whether it was a mistake or not so had no way to verify it.

Shawn

Got an email from Sam Wereb today:
-----
Sean I have been in the hospital since December 29, 2000. I will get to the bottom of this and get back to you ASAP.. Sorry for your inconvenience.

Sam

-----

No other info so I don't know what will happen. Anyone else hear anything?

Shawn

I got the same e-mail. Lets hope its legit. Although I am still bothered by the fact that he told us he had them in stock when he did not. I just hope he comes through with either the money or the knives.

I did not receive that email yet, but I'll take everybody's word... even Sam's.

If Sam had some health problems, then I truly wish him the best.

Although his business was kind of funny to begin with... I guess everyone makes mistakes.

Let's move on.

Eric.

Here we are 3 months later and still no knife or further word from this guy.

Sent my last email follow up to him and this will be my last post here to clear up his previous anti-propaganda attempt.

Note his post here which was copied from 'Community' stating it was a mistake due to illness etc.

After 3 months there has been no resolution to this matter and last email contact was 1 month ago. This matter has NOT been resolved nor any attempt made. There were initially three BFC Members (that I was aware of that is) that were involved with dealings from Sam Wereb and I have heard of no resolution with their problems either.

If I receive the knife or a full refund of my money sometime in the future I will post here. Otherwise, this is the unfortunate end of it all.

Had to be a first time I guess and I'm certainly thankful it was only $23.50.

Shawn

I got both of mine in the mail today. Mine also had no note or explanation, or the belt clip. The handle on one was cordwrapped. It was really a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting to get them. I am glad that he made good in the end.

As mentioned in the other two threads I have not received this knife but surprisingly two other Members did receive them. I had filed complaints with both the local BBB and Postal Service both who investigated and ultimately referred me to the Attorney General's Office as they could get no response.

This is all quite interesting and surprising. I will post if I receive the knife I ordered.

Very interesting,
Shawn

Wife had the blade in her car when she came home. I did receive as everyone else my blade with no other information included.

Thanks Sam... I'm glad you came through.

What a long strange trip it's been!!!!

Shawn

PS: Now I can go back to saying I've NEVER been ripped off dealing on the Forums at BFC!
