well i have wanted to make a Bali for a long time and that article in blade about them pushed me over the edge. Not knowing how thy really work or the movement and pin placement i played around in solid works. i knew what had to happen but just did not know if there was any stead fast rules to the pivots. so any way this is my basic model to test pivot and stop pin placement. i still need to add a latch and increase the pivot size. but here is the model what do you think. any glaring mistakes?

I decided to put the stop pins in the handle as i think it makes it look very clasy.

That looks really good! I'd ask the opinion over in the Balisong forum for great input. My only advice is when the tang is more pointy like the one you have, it tends to pinch the fingers when it goes into the recessed zen pins (the stops in the handle are called zen pins). I have had a Balibalistic that I just got rid of for that specific reason, it kept pinching my index finger duing manipulation and never felt comfortable. Other than that, it looks really good! I love the spearpoint blade, its a highly sought after blade type to many balisong collectors. We always appreciate a new maker, more good options for us to throw our money at!!!!

Shoot me a PM with your specs on a potential knife, I'd love to get in on one!

thanks for the pointers, that is a good point about the tang pinching. i would like it to be a nice smooth flipabull butterfly so a pinched finger is no good. let me tweek it a bit and see what i come up with.

I like how you have radiused some of the edges like that. Solidworks is a good tool I use it too.

Looks good, JT.

As rangerover mentioned you'll want to trin the tip of tang down as much as possible to avoid pinching. on some of my earlier stuff i had'nt quite figured that out yet.

Your current tang design though is impeccable. I hope to get one of your more recent designs. I just love all metal balis, and the G10 wasnt doing it for me Shaun.
