First Batch of Char Cloth

It chars just like cotton does — heat it in a tin until it stops smoking. Unlike typical cotton cloth, the punk wood burns in three dimensions, so the ember can get really big. Just like char cloth, it lights easily from a magnifying glass or a spark. Also, it's easy to find in the woods, so you don't need to bring the uncharred material in with you.

Chris do you char the punk wood like Cotten first? If so for how long?

Rupestris... that is an awesome way to do that. will have to try. I used denim in an Altoids tin as my char cloth experience. The finished product works great.
