First Becker on the way / BK2

That is probably my next purchase. I was initially looking at the BK 7 and decided it was a tweener. So BK 2 and add the BK 9 seemed to make since. Who knows, I may add the tweener later.

James

That's the way I've always looked at it, too. First the BK-2, then the BK-9. The BK-2 and the BK-7 are just too close together in size for the BK-7 to be your second Becker.

The BK-2 and the BK-9 make a nice spread. You'll get the rest of the Beckers as time goes on, of course.

:thumbup:I finally began to use one of my Train Wreckers and JWH, I must say that I have a hard time putting it down. I keep finding things to cut and hack on. The fellow Beckerheads are being modest when they tell you that the Bk2 is really something first to behold and then to hold and keep on holding. As I write this, I am on a break from hauling and processing two huge pecan trees. I have yet to break out any of my large choppers, due to not being able to put the 2 down. Any of the small to medium limbs are quickly winding up in the kindling for cooking pile. It just goes to show that the BK2 performs that well. Welcome to the club. Gotta go now, I hear my Train calling and it's ready to go, back to work that is! And as Ethan concludes with

ALL BEST....... that is so true when using Beckers.

i've placed a call to dea. there honestly is something addictive about that knife. i took one to show my dad and he refuses to give it back. some nonsense about years and years of little metal cars and model rockets. whatever.

and if it means anything to anyone here, his (my) BK-2 sits next to his Randall Model 18. two very nice knives, just a tad bit of difference in price!

again, BZ KA-BAR and Ethan!

Roger the Bravo Zulu to Ethan and KA-BAR.

I might mention that many people, perhaps including Ethan, may not know what BZ means (you might want to tell them).

After my time in the Navy, I got a job with the Florida Department of Transportation. I was using acronyms in letters that NO ONE had ever heard of. I thought the whole world spoke as I did. How funny when I realized that the phrases I was using were unique to the Navy!

That being said, "BZ", pronounced "Bravo Zulu" using the military alphabet, means good job, or well done. It is a serious pat-on-the-back in the Navy.

This phrase and R (Respectfully), or VR (Very Respectfully) are two military phrases/protocols I have held onto.

SO, in summary; Ethan, Paul, and KA-BAR, I think you guys are doing one hell of a good job! That's about the best translation I can give!

I remember experiencing the same problem, once upon a time. I might point out that many of the phrases and acronyms you were using may have been unique to the Naval service, but not necessarily to the Navy alone. We Marines used virtually the same Naval terminology, a tradition held over from our days as part of the Navy.

It was pointed out to me in Basic school in Quantico that, while I might be considered an officer of the Naval service, I was a Marine. We shared the same terminology, but not exactly the same traditions, and were, in fact, a separate service (not that any sailor I ever met believed that).:D

I just ordered my first Becker as well, the BK2. A friend of mine let me borrow his the other day and I decided I had to have one. Nice to read everyone's opinion on it, it only makes me more confident in my purchase.

I just received my BK2 gen2 today, after months of trawling the net and stores choosing a knife, and to say I'm very pleased with it is an understatement, they are pretty much non existent in Australia as well so it was worth the 2 1/2 week wait for it, nice to be a little different! Now I'm looking forward to personalizing it.

There needs to be a support group for BK-2 addicts.
oh wait.

I've just ordered the BK2 myself. I have a Camillus/BK7 and love it. Can't wait to get the 2, so I can play with it a little bit. Oh, and BTW, put the Micarta scales on the 7 and love 'em...so I'll be putting them on the 2 as well...

It's so hard to go back to grivory after having the micarta scales. They feel so nice!

That's for sure!! I've seen a fella on here that makes custom wood scales too, but I'm not sure if that's for me...but they look SWEET!!

My BK2 arrived today and it is a handful. Any work, play or testing will have to wait as it's been a looonnnggg day. On the surface I am very pleased.
