First Becker. Which one to get?

Basically, just don't beat the living crapola out of the knife with a big stick and it will be fine. I suspect you will be like many, the BK-16 gets carried and the bigger ones get left at home unless you are thinking about a specific use that the larger size makes a better tool.

My 16 and my 24 are my most used knives. But if I has to chose one for all around greatness in the wood it would be a 7 all the way. Does all the work a 10 or a 2, what I like is the extra length for batoning larger pieces of wood, chops pretty well for its size and is really quick in the hand.

I took the plunge and ordered a bk10. I decided you guys were right and that the 10 is the closest thing to a middle ground between the 2 and 16. I'm sure I will purchase a 16 in the near future. Thanks for all the help guys. It really helped me make a decision.

PredHunter, don't forget that you can use your knife to make wedges. Let them take the punishment of batoning and just make a new one if it fails. It is a lot easier to replace a tool made with a knife than to replace the knife itself. Just saying - not preaching.

Hey Predhunter......

The Sweet Sixteen is my go to the woods EDC....... I want a Nine handy and the 11 or 14 is a given but, the Sixteen is my gotta have....... The Two is a great all around tool and excels at turning four inch rounds into tiny slivers and field dressing a recently harvested Buick.....It has several "saves" under it's belt and I of course feel everyone should own at least one... LOL..... My favorite trio is a 16, an 11, and a 9........... Btw at PWYP a few years ago we used a single BK2 to process all the wood for about six cook fires for about eight people (mostly seasoned red oak) and most of the other camp chores.....I say most as there is no way you can keep that many knife Knuts sharing just one knife for that long....LOL....... I am really not sure if this helps you at all.....I hope it did......

Thanks for the info Ethan. I can't wait for my 10 to show up. And your post does help me quite a bit because now I know that I will purchase the 16 and 9 next.

Ah, the sweet sound of our master's voice.

Amen to Uncle Ethan and the 16. Easily my fave Becker and by far the most useful overall. And I agree its the sweetest combo when paired with the 9. For less "demanding" excursions, I also love the 14/7 combo...another sweet spot for me.
