First Benchmade. Have a question

Here's a pretty clear one. Looks like dookie to me. I'd expect this from a Chinese knife but not on this. I may be out of line or something Idk.

Wow.. It looks a lot worse in that picture. My guess is it is where the pieces are attached when they are moulded. You would think they could cut them a little long, and grind them down flush with a grinder, and not have the voids that are there. Certainly wouldn't take long...

I have a Griptilian in the same color that the marks are really noticeable on. I noticed it at first but didn't think much of it until I saw this thread... I had a different tan Griptilian in the past and I don't remember ever noticing the marks on it. Maybe I just didn't pay much attention.

I always just carve or sand out injection mold marks. It works really well

My 556 & 555 have the same marks. The Grip handles have always been the least liked part of these otherwise great knives.

Mine has it. It's completely normal. As others have said, it's the sprue/gate for injecting plastic into the mold. I think they do a very good job with their plastic.

The Griptillians are Benchmade's entry level Axis lock folders. They cost less because the scales are molded plastic instead of being machined. It's all about appropriate expectations.

Its basically cast plastic, so the indentations are probably from the open spots where the molten plastic was poured into the mould.

After further investigation, I realize that I have stated what has already been said. My Apologies
