First "Big" Becker on the way

Finally pulled the trigger and purchased a BK-16. Looks like it will be my default camp knife.

As a bonus(?), I am getting it used and it's already been stripped and had micarta scales put on it. Less than $90!

I'm stoked. I say it's my first "big" Becker because I've already got the BK11. Such an awesome little blade.

The only issue is... I have to hide the BK16 for 2 months until my birthday. My wife doesn't know what she has already got me. :p

Oh well, I guess I'll get to fondle it at my desk at work. Should make for an interesting conversation piece when I'm meeting with clients.

Thought I'd share my joy... I'll post pics when it arrives.

The main problem with your plan is hiding it from your wife, under the guise that it's going to be your birthday present. Keep it stashed if you want; but let her get you a BK9 for your birthday (or a 12, if they're available by then)(or a 2)(or a 5 -lots of great deals available on the 5)

Congrats, you are going to love it. lets see some pics when you get it.

BTW, whats next? BK9 or a 4 or a 5 or a ...................;)

It will be more like, "look what the Birthday Fairy brought me!"

She is still on the hook for something else... :D

/Single income family, I get to splurge at least once a year... Birthday, Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, etc...

EDIT: My next would probably be a 15 or a 7.

Thats awesome brother. You made a good choice, and i'm sure you are gonna love it.

Post up some pics when you get it and more when you.."get it".

Orezona,

Congrats on the 16, love mine. Perfect allarounder.

For what it's worth, rumor has it that the bk15, bk5 & even bk4 might be discontinued; there are some great deals out there on these. This of course made me want them even though they were down on the acquisition list, so I got them all for that reason. They are all good stuff, but that bk15 is so unique as a droppoint blade with excellent size, balance and slicey and more usable for smaller tasks than the bk5, it's a gotta have before they are gone, IMHO.

Enjoy the obsession. Resistance is futile and pointless.....

Congrats; great choice.

It's just a matter of time before you get a bigger Becker and then another, and another ...

Yes, it happens to all of us. My habit gets supported by requesting gift cards for such events. They all add up to a Becker or three! Congrats! Sounds like you got a Cadillac setup with all the options, enjoy!

Thanks! I'm very interested in getting the 15. Love the look of the knife and from what everyone has posted about it... I know I'll love it.

I was going to pick it up from Coyle's but it sold out! My loss.

I'm going to be dropping some not-so-subtle hints about "this great knife that's a great price and IT WON'T BE AROUND FOR MUCH LONGER... nudgenudgewinkwink"

Becker's knives are awesome. I can't wait to expand the family.

Well, I came back from vacation to a very nice package awaiting me on my desk...

(Note: It came stripped and with the forced patina already.. It also came with the tan and black factory scales.)

Overall, super stoked on this purchase. I really like the micarta scales and the stripping/patina job the previous owner applied.
I may get some stainless hardware and will definitely sharpen and oil it, but this is pretty awesome.

Thanks for letting me share... Now I need the 15, 2, 9, etc., etc...

Congrats mate, sweet looking blade. That Patina on the blades edge looks good. It will serve you well.

Very nice.

I luv the 15 and prefer it over the 16. But, since you already have a 'small' and 'medium' BK, I'd recommend a 4 or 9 to fill the 'large' role.

Really nice blade!
You even have hamon line on this.
Also this finger groove is very well executed.

Did the previous owner also put that choil on it? They don't come with those.....
