I just finished these blades tonight for delivery tomorrow to my bone Doc.
He is into Japanese cuisine and so is his Mom and sister. These are just a token of my appreciation for the repair of my shoulder. He went above and beyond the norm to get me fixed up.
My shoulder is not up to hammering yet, so these are stock removal.

Style--------Santoku
Steel-------- 3/32" 1095
Fittings------ black micarta
Handles------ curly maple
OAL---------- 11"
Blade--------- 6"

Oh yeah man, those are great!

How do you do the hamon-not-a-hamon thing?

Nathan, I edge quinch without a depth stop so there is some verticle movement. I hold the edge for about a second, then submerse the whole blade. I never know exactly what "ghosting" will happen.

Great looking Santoku and nice looking Curly Maple handles. Outstanding work from what I can see.
Thanks for posting the photo's and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as well.
And I hope you shoulder is coming a long ok. Hope to see more photo's from you. God bless.

Great looking knives. Real Japanese style but still very American. It must have felt good to be able to make them too!

Cool looking knives, I like the style, look like they would be very handy in the kitchen.

those have got to be the most beautiful kitchen knives i have ever seen, made me get all excited just to see em!,im sure your doc will be very touched!

Very sweet! Nice ghost hamon too.
Good to see you're back at it ( I bet your fingers were twitching every time you looked at a piece of steel between when you got hurt and when you started these my wife says she can tell when I need to stop sitting on the couch in from of the TV with her because my fingers will start twitching)

Good luck with speedy and complete recovery!

nice looking knives,Cooter,I love the curly maple-glad to see you back in the saddle again.:thumbup:

Thanks for the kind words. It is great to be making knives again. I still don't have much lateral strength , so I made an 8" high platform to stand on which allows me to lower my hand position and brace my arm against my side better.
My bone Doc was really suprised and very pleased with the knives. I think he is going to have a real problem deciding which one to keep.
