My only real embarassing blood letting with one of my Khuks was after following the info on one of the threads mentioning how to bring up the hamon (temper line) on your blade. I followed the steps and it looked great. Very subtle and lovely. I then proceeded to follow the Yvsa lessons on sharpening, right down to the stropping method of the leather on a dowel. When I was done I went out to the front door to get a better look under natural light. I opened the door, looked and was satisfyed with my results. Well at this point the spring and piston closing device on the front door pulled it closed, lightly tapping my wrist edge against the fresh sharpening job. The blade bit right in and nicked a vein that was in the way. I mean did that baby bleed!!! I needed the assist of my very understanding lady and about a half hour to stop the bleeding. Lesson learned. Cheetlang likes my blood., do not let my guard down around it. HeHeHe I do like how sharp you can get a blade following Yvsa's teachings. Now I need to go back and study the safety thread I think!
