As far back as I can remember, I have had an appreciation for knives. Whittling sticks with my great-grandfather was one of my favorite pastimes and remains one of my fondest childhood memories.
Like more than a few knife-aficionados, my obsession began with a film that hit at a very young and impressionable age. I was about 10 when it was released and fortunate enough to have HBO in my home when it finally made it to television. I taped it on VHS and watched that movie over and over, almost daily for considerable amount of time. I had never seen anything like it. A man alone in the woods, surviving and defending himself against an entire sheriffs department with no more than his outdoor knowledge and his knife. I wanted that knife so bad I could taste it! I would have given all my earthly possessions to have it!
As the years passed, I found new obsessionsnamely girls and cars. Life progressed and I landed a lovely lady and a stellar Jeep which calmed me considerably. Found myself with a renewed interest in finding a knife that I could bet my life on. Not in an apocalyptic scenario, but more of a real world--land navigation skills were not honed--lost in the woods-type scene. I continue to think about that First Blood knife.
Enter the Busse Knife Group. I have seen more knife torture tests than I care to admit. In my opinion, Busse knives are the clear winner. I have never seen anything like them. This has led to my acquiring a sizeable Busse, Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard collection. Yet, I still think about that First Blood knife.
How amazing would it be to have that knife in a one-piece Infi version of that knife? Maybe then I could stop thinking of that First Blood knife.
Just a Sunday afternoon thought...
