First bolster attempt. I've got a blade coming close to being ready for heat treat. It's the DH_30 pattern found at http://dcknives.blogspot.ca/p/blog-page_13.html

Thanks D. Comeo!

I've got some 3/8 black linen micarta I'll be using for scales. Not to ask dumb questions but do I get the same thickness for the bolsters? By shaping the handle I thought I might get away with 1/4 thick bolsters as determined by the handle shape.

Nobody seems to use mild steel for the bolsters and pins so is it the lack of corrosion resistance? The blade is 1084 if that makes a difference.

I've got a week or two before my granite surface plate is in (flat is where it's at) so I have time to order things.

Am I on the right track? I like the steel look so if mild is out I was thinking 410 stainless and pins of the same from alpha knife supply would work.

I wish they had an online ordering option......

Anyway, thanks for any feedback.

The 3/8" micarta will be oversize for sure. I believe 3/16 will be plenty thick enough for the bolsters. You can use what you like for bolsters. there are now many knivers that have G10 and micarta bolsters so if you want mild steel, why not? Frank
