Hello , i want buy my first knife for camping, hiking and general outdoor, the blade would be no more than 7,5 inch long , to put in my backpack and doing everything on the bush, very resistant to abuse and easy to resharp (i know INFI would be that easy).

When i seen the test results about the Busse combat fusion battle mistress on knifetests.com i decided that the knife to buy is a Busse , but which one ? please help me to find the one for me.

The alternative would be the Scrap Yard scrapper 6 (discontinued) , but INFI is a more resistant steel.

Thank you for your help.

The boss jack is still avalible from the busse website... its a perfect mid sized busse, and will last you a lifetime.

Another Boss Jack vote, now the question is what flavor!

Combat Grade or LE, Coated or Double Cut (bead Blasted)..... G10 or Micarta oh-my!!!

I went Double cut and black G10 and couldn't be happier.

I'd go with a BJ if you want to get it at company price. Otherwise wait for a skinny ASH or ASH-1 LE to pop up on the exchange.

Or if you want something from Busse to get a taste at a lower price, go with a Swamp Rat Ratmandu or 511 from Scrapyard. Both are SR101, which is a really great steel all round. Ratmandus are in stock right now and the 511s ordered a few weeks ago are shipping now.

I would suggest a bigger blade of you are lookinf for a all arrounder.

Boss jack is an awesome, classic design! But not as good for chopping. If you are not too concerned with that get a boss jack.

If chopping, try Sfno, or nmsfno, or sarQ

Watch the for sale forum and or post an ad in the wanted to buy section. I am sure you can what you want with in a week. Buying a medium sized knife is tough because it might be to big for detailed cutting or to small for chopping. Two knives are easier to do more with, or ask yourself will I be doing more chopping or more cutting(food prep, skinning etc?) and choose a knife more suited to your end of the scale.

Boss Jack - and a 511 - so you have something for the GF/Spouse/child as they get older...

BOSS JACK CG! Ergonomics are superb, not too heavy to carry on person and sweet convex edge...

HHFSH...

I Know it's 8", but he said 1 knife for LIFE!!!:D

That Boss Jack looks pretty cool. All I have is a Bony Active Duty and a Game Warden, would love to try one of the larger blades. Really wanted a Boss Street but I waited a little too long...

I don't have one but I have to agree with others here and recommend the boss jack. It's just the right size, it's not too wide, it won't be too heavy (since your backpacking weight will be important), the blade shape is well suited as an all rounder, it's still available on the company site and the price is still reasonable.

If you wanted another model you'll have to comb the secondhand forums which is still a good option but you may have to wait till the model you like pops up on the market and it may be more expensive than the original release price. In the second hand market a few I would recommend would be a skinny ASH, hell raiser, special forces natural outlaw, tactical satin jack.

There probably a whole host of others that would be suitable as well but that's just a few that I can think of that stand out.

I hope that helps.

I vote for the SAR-6 or SAR-8 (if you’re willing to give a bit extra blade length). The Steel Heart collection, more specifically the ASH-1 (or SH-E) also seems to be a pretty popular camping knife. The BOSS Jack (which can be ordered now) is one hell of a knife too. But my first choice would be a SAR-6.

One more vote for the Boss Jack:cool::thumbup:
