Just returned from a car camping trip to beautiful Baylor Regional Park located in Norwood Young America, Minnesota.
Decided to car camp as this was my younger son's first overnighter and I didn't want him to get soured on camping by taking away all his creature comforts. As it was he suffered a bit of withdrawal from xbox and television yesterday. He didn't bring a book, I told him to do so, but he did not listen.
Anyway, all in all a fun time bonding with my boys. Next time we go it's off to Lake Maria, just outside of Monticello, MN (a state park). Enjoy the pics and knife porn.
Sam finishing with the tent.
Joe
The park-very well maintained
Joe put his knife near this cut tree. On his own! Taking knife porn pics! Sniff, I'm so proud.
Gossman Tusker
All the knives the 3 of us brought. Three are Benchmades-love them
Ok, so on with the knife comments. My Tusker saw heavy duty batonning through the pile of wood you saw earlier. Don't know what type of wood but the stuff was TOUGH! I banged the heck out of the knife and still shaved a patch of hair off my leg afterward. Amazing...thanks Scott!
My Whipple shaved curls of the wood to start the fire and pulled extra duty as the sandwich maker, slicing summer sausage for lunches. My NWA did fire duty as well and just hung out on my hip for a day, waiting to be used. I have one of those Light my Fire pocket knives with attached firesteel and it works very well. I clipped a photon light onto the cord; makes reading in the tent easy.
I have to say that the trip was relaxing and uneventful except the stop we made at the local Econofoods to grab some jugs of water. My older son Sam jumps out and promptly slams his thumb in the car door!! He is yelling for me to unlock the door and his brother is standing there in disbelief. He was ok, just some bruising. Lucky kid. So we picked up ice as well as water
