Well If anyone remembers a while back I posted pics of my first canister damascus. This is the first knife finished from that billet. I used bone for the scales and brass pins and spacers. I am very pleased with this knife. I feel its my best work so far. At least it was the most complex overall.
I want to give a big thanks to everyone here for helping so much. I love this place and owe you guys. If your ever in northern Mi stop by and I will make you dinner, and buy you a beer:)

The knife is 7 and 1/8 inches long
Blade is tip to plunge 3 and 1/4 inches
and a little over 1/8 thick

I think I am going to try a bone inlay on the sheath for this knife.
Thanks for looking.

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but I'm not familiar with "canister damascus." How is it different from regular pattern welded stock?

That is a nice job. The steel is interesting to look at when you can see what went inside the canister.

Very nice indeed. A really excellent job with the filework between the scales -- most of the time I don't like this because it comes out looking rather muddy.

Nicely done Bill! I like how it looks like those pictures in books, with the cutaway of the dirt and you can see the fossil bones inside like they are suspended.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Sam, that is exactly what I was thinking. thats why i used the bone scales and in the filework there are two little bones. It may be corny but I call the knife Them Bones. I was thinking of trying this again with the bone idea more on purpose in the damascus.

Metalhead0483 I used powderd 1095 and scraps of damascus and other bits of tool steel in my canister. A few other guys here have done this to. Here is a link to Bruce Bumps tutorial on making canister damascus with Harley chain.

Not quite the same as Arials method. Also I accordian cut this billet to show the insides better.

WOW I didn't even notice, very nice classy touch! Maybe try grinding out/shaping some little bone shapes and laying them into the powder? I have never done any canned damascus so i am not sure if that would work.
