First car?

My first car was a 1959 Ford 4 Door, 6 banger that would be screaming at 55/60 mph, 3 on the tree which you would have to come to a stop to go back into First gear, It was a plain Jane not even a radio.
It was in Field car condition when I got it before I was 16. I hand rebuilt and fabricated the Rocker & Quarter Panels myself just to get it on the road.

I had a 91 Honda CRX for my first car, I had 4 of them before I moved on to a different Honda. I still love those wee cars

I used to laugh at people in Honda's only to find out the joke was on me, after I bought and still own my first one with over 350,000 miles on it and still a Daily driver. I'm now a Believer. These cars a Great.:)

Back on 76' my first car was a motorcycle, a 1975 Honda 500T, then the first car was a 1968 Dodge Coronet Convertible with a 318 in it, this car lasted about 6 months, I traded it for a bag of, (well you know what was in the bag:D).

The best part was I grew up in a junkyard as a kid, (my Mom's) so I had a different car almost every week, I take a dealer plate and slap it on anything that would start and still had gas, plus I got to keep almost all the cars I bought till she sold the yard ten years ago, (by then the total was about 40 cars.

Some of my favorites were a Honda 600 Sedan, 68' Chevy C10 Short Bed Fleetside P/U, 73' Oldsmobile Toranado, 62 Willys Jeep with a Buick Turbo V6 in it and Dave Cipeck(sp?) Desert Dogs on the rims, 71' Chevy CST20 pickup, 71' Town and Country with a 440 hemi in it, a mid 80s Volkswagen Rabbit, and last but not least my early 70s Datsun B210 Station Wagon, (I bought 6 of these at under $50 a piece at auction, I kept this car and put 300,000 miles on it before I retired it to a yard car)

Current projects, a 57 Willys Jeep with no motor that's been in the barn for the last 30 years, my 68' C10 and a Conrail Grumman Pick Up truck with the aluminum Utility Cab and Track Wheels:D:D.

In 1979----was a 69 Olds Delta 88 big block 350----white 4-door with black and white interior. It was my grandpa's until it was rear ended---that's how I got it---ran a bike chain through to keep the trunk lid down.

Drove it for a couple years till it died.

I'm surprised I can even remember. In 1963 I bought a 1955 Pontiac convertible.
Had it painted Tahitian Red and it had a red/white interior, black top. I would kill to still have that car today!

Win

My first car was a '71 Mercury Capri....the one made in Germany not the later Mustang derivative. My first vehicle was a '75 Indian 100 dirt bike, made in Taiwan. I bought it brand new for $500.

Wow- nobody else had a '57 Chevy?

Mine was a blue station wagon bought in 1970 when I was 15. Added chrome "reversed" rims, "smoked" the back windows and I was in business! Paid $200 for it with 98,000 miles on it. 283ci with a Powerglide. On date nights I added a sleeping bag, blanket, pillows, etc- rolling motel!

Wish I still had that car

Back in 1985, my first car was a 1974 Porsche 914 1.8L convertible.

It was a lot of fun, and girls loved it. But it only had two seats, the heater didn't work, it was starting to rust out underneath, and it was in the shop every month.

I remember one Winter driving down the highway with 5 people jammed in there, scraping the frost off the inside of the windshield as we went. Windshield washers didn't work either. And worst of all . . . it was orange.

I miss that car.

1965 Plymouth Barracuda with a srtaight 6 and a 3 speed in the column. Got lousy mileage but it was reliable.

Saved my $ working in the stockroom in a shoe store my senior year of HS ('81). Bought a 1973 Dodge Coronet 440 for $200 (I think). 4-door party barge. Fit a zillion people. Spent some graduation $ to put a crappy little AM-FM cassette player w/ 2 speakers. Was too cool for school. Got laid like a champ on the big front seat more than a few times. (Try that in a Civic!) Got it totalled out from under me by a drunk driver. It was still drivable- but w/ the entire driver's side crunched & creased from the front to the rear bumpers. Had to get in & out of the passenger's side. Got some insurance $ & finally traded it in. Saw it on the road about 6 months later- recognized the bumper stickers.

My first car was a 1984 Pontiac Sunbird. It was red. Two months after I got it I wrecked it in an accident that really should have killed me.

I got almost the same car but a '89 in 1995 which was my junior year of HS. Did some stupid things in it but always came out ok.

My little brother ended up with it and destroyed it. Actually still have it but there are dents all over it and something in the front suspension needs to be rebuilt with some welding done.

Can't believe I let the little jerk do that to the car cause it was in great shape when he got it.

After driving the folks Crown Victoria (which I later bought off them) for a year, bought my 91 Camaro RS just before the start of senior year of high school... She was already 10 years old with over 120k on the ticker, but man, had the nicest 10 foot paint job I've seen!

Bought my first car in '76, I was 15. Worked my ass off and saved the money to pay cash for it. 1969 SS 396 Chevelle.
The car was immaculate but I wanted it repainted, put Cragar 5 spokes on it and spent my time completely detailing the car until I turned 16. Underneath, front to back.
You could eat off of that car... Took it out the night of my 16th birthday, a friend and I went cruising the strip with it. I was on top of the world.. On the way home I got into a race with a Z-28 and broke a connecting rod

Called Dad to have him come and tow me home. First thing he asked was, Did ya win???? Yes I did :D

Man, I'd kill for a '69 SS 396 Chevelle. Do you still have it?

My first was a 67 Bellaire. Straight six, 2 speed powerglide. Then in college I got a 74 Tbird. Great car, 460 V8, it would pass anything but a gas station. :D I hated to give that one up, still wish I had it...

No... I sold the 69 to my best friend and he kept it for about 3 years. Then he sold it to buy a Z-28. I always wonder what happened to that car, but it's been about 25 years since the last time I saw it.

I've got everybody beat. '78 GREMLIN!!!!!!! Orange - really kind of a puke orange. Bench seat about 2" thick, vinyl flooring, 3 speed stick shift, tires looked like they came off my sisters bike - no radio of any kind! Almost forgot to mention the entire interior was a baby s__t brown. What a tub - cornering in that thing was like steering a ship. I could not for the life of me tell you what kind of motor it had in it. Drove it for about 4 months and traded up to a......'79 GREMLIN!!!!!!! This one was the cats meow tho - had the levi's interior and a 4.2 liter engine that ate gas like crazy. You did not dare try and go over 65 or the front end would start shaking like a dog crapping peach pits. The doughnut between the exhaust manifold and tail pipe would blow out about every 1000 miles - sounded like, well, I don't know what, but god, was it loud. Usually took about 5 minutes of holding the starter down to get it started in the winter - that was the most cold blooded car I have ever seen - got pretty good at changing out starters! I don't care what kind of tires you put on it, they would not last more than 20,000 miles. It did have an am radio, however. I then graduated to a brand new Kawasaki KZ1000 - a cherry red chick magnet. Fast does not even describe it. Sold it when I got married and have been saddled with a constant stream of minivans ever since - thank god I drive a truck for work.
