This is the first CeraKoted blade I have done worth showing. Also one of the T-6 fighter prototypes.
... This stuff is AWEsome.
normally I am very skeptical about any type of coating especially on a using blade.
After doing the multitude of recommended prep steps before applying the coating and buying a new HVLP sprayer it came together great.
This is for a customer who has been very patient. He received it today and response was WOW!!!
Coating really is tough as nails.
Will be using this on all my Carbon steel blades from here out and some SS ones if requested.
Let me know what you think.

Jerry politely reminded me he has a design patent on the uncovered hole in front. This is the same blade that was originally made. One and only have not made any more per our discussion, just posting the finish.

Man that is a good looking finish. I am in the deep south and have been exploring options for my carbon blades. I tried Black oxide but was not happy with the results and application in the winter was compounded by the need to heat the liquid etc.

How did you apply your makers mark, before or after the finish?

What's the name of that one?

Is the 4 oz sample enough to try it out on a 10" knife?

Good job!

I did not know you could get a patent on such a thing since it is so commonly used for so many years

Nice knife it looks great.

Will respect Jerry's design choice.
Here heat is never a problem... But yes a 4oz sampler is enough to do at least 5 blades. It just needs enough to look wet and evenly coated.
More than that and the finish turns out ruff. Don't skimp on the spray gun.

I have a high end detail hlvp gun for spraying my bows and a sand blaster. I may haft give this a try on a test blade to see how it holds up. Thanks

Very nice looking knife and results on the coating!!!

Very good looking knife, I like it! I have dabbled in a couple coatings, GunKote 2400 and 3400, and alumahyde II but was thinking I'd try cerakote for my next project. Did you use the air cure or oven cure? I read somewhere that the oven cure is very easy to mess up prior to curing, did you have any problems getting it in an oven? For you makers mark, did you have any problems with that or do anything to make sure it showed up?

I'll have to remember not to put a hole like that in any of my knives i guess...

How is the cerakote different from powder coating? is it also a powder that you must bake on? is it tougher then powder coating?
