First Chef's knife done at last

I started this just after Christmas but this has not been a good winter to get things done.

Blade is just about 8" long, distal tapered A2.

Handle is Japanese style of walnut burl and holly, both stabilized by K&G with a black micarta pin.

dan....i love it...it loos spectacular....i collect alot of kitchen knives and this one looks so nice....i like the finish on the blade....the handle looks really nice too....the only thing i don't like is the plunge....it looks like it's sort of going in the handle....i would have left it off completely.....great job.....ryan

I am working on 2 kitchen knives now. Hope they finish out as nice as yours! I like the handles on yours!

Very nice looking knife. I am thinking about trying my hand at a mater style, or santoko style. about 6 inches. I only have 5160, but I think it will work.

Thanks a lot folks! I'm happy the handle worked out the way I'd visualized it.

Ryan, the plunge cuts were the mistake that led to the handle choice. That, and a
couple of minor cosmetic details, are why this one will be given away to some friends as
test knife.

Dan

Good one Dan! How did you shape the handle? I don't remember seeing a lathe when I visited last summer?

Love it! How thick was te blade at the spine?
