Two beauties.

That KOA is a wonderful wood.

I have one almost like that, but I think your wood is better looking......and my steel is my namesake steel instead of the S30V.

I was shocked at how much nicer my knife is than Max's and feeling badly about that. But then I thought, if Buck wanted Max to have the nicer knife than me, they would have engraved his name in the nicer one. And who am I to second guess the pros?

I think both are very nice. Judging from the photos, Max's wood has more of a flame sheen, like what you find on flame maple. Does it look 3D in changing light, like when you rock it back and forth under light?

Another thing.......is there a remarkably big difference in the finger grooves in those two knives or is it just the camera angles tricking my old eyes?

There's a big difference. What you see is how it is. Also, my scales are thicker and more rounded. They feel better in the hand.

I like that there is variation in product. Makes them feel custom (yes, I know they are not true customs. It's not a true custom price either.)

Yes, I understand.

It would be interesting to find out the full story on why you have such different knives if they were supposedly made at about the same time from the same stock of parts on hand.

Does each employee free-hand the finger grooves on each knife so one can expect them all to be different?

I don't think so. There must be another explanation.

Interesting question, BG42EDGE. I'm planning on ordering a custom with sambar stag and finger grooves early in the year and I'm now wondering which variation I'll get.

Would the names of the craftsmen who made Savvy Rabbit's knives be of help if you like one style better than the other?

He should have both names. That would be the way to be sure about how this happened and ensure getting one style or the other if you order finger-grooves.

True. The names should be on the certificate, the COA.

When was your knife made? And your pins are set into the wood while your son's are sticking up above the wood, is that correct?
