I had a friend use his little EDC I made him for some sort of self surgery. Splinter removal I think. He torched the blade to sterilize it. Intentionally heated it with fire until it ran colors. To sterilize it. On purpose. SMH

Just because he ruined the edge doesn't mean that there isn't good steel a bit back. Grind the edge back 1/8" to 1/4" and then add a convex bevel. Sharpen and test the edge on a brass rod.

I'd second the above, definitely worth a try.
