First CRK...long overdue

Hate to be redundant, but I received my first CRK today--a plain small Sebenza 21. It's the perfect size for EDC, for me. I was drawn to the beauty of the simplicity of the design, and can't wait to use it for years and pass down to the next generation. I was one who thought my Benchmades and Spydercos were good enough for me, but everything I bought or tried out left me wanting more. Out of the pile I had accumulated I saw only one or two that would stand the test of time and be worthy of passing on. Long story short, got tired of the rotation, wanted the best, got a CRK, couldn't be more pleased. Won't be my last. Probably a large and a Mnandi in my future at the least.

Welcome to the madness! :-) my suggestion is to use it like crazy and don't worry about any minor scratches since it only makes it look better.

Glad you received it and are happy with it! thanks again man.

I remember my first CRK too, and I'm willing to bet it won't be your last ;) The first time I held one the quality blew me away. When I first got into knives I couldn't imagine spending that much on one, but now I have 3 CRKs and still want more. There's something about using a tool that you know will outlive you and be passed on that makes it that much more special to carry.

Just like tomsch said, use it hard and don't worry about marks. It adds to the character, and if you get sick of them and want it to look new again it can always go back for a spa treatment.

Yeah I was gonna say, looks familiar doesn't it? :) 100% mint. Even less broken in than the one I handled at the local shop.

I love the look of worn titanium. I think there's nothing like using it everyday and 10 years later look at the marks on it and think about everywhere it's been with you. And there's a great appeal that if you want it new looking again, it can be done. Truly a tool to last a lifetime.

Congratulations! Love it and love to use it. I started going to the mailbox at 10 am on the day my first sebbie was to be delivered.......knowing full well the mail didn't come till after 3 pm. I must have checked every 15 minutes until it finally came about 3:30. I was a grown man acting like a young boy waiting for something very special. Even took a day of leave from work so I'd be there...didn't want anyone stealing it from the mailbox (which has never happened to me by the way but didn't want that day to be the first time). Silly way to act? Probably, but no regrets as it was a great time and a wonderful evening enjoying the knife I had wanted for years. Hope you continue to enjoy yours over the years as I have.

Great choice on your first CRK .... The sickness starts, the first one is a user, then you'll want another for a back up, then another just to admire the workmanship and it will continue, but there is good news, there are support groups all over to help control this sickness, for it cannot be cured. I once was almost cured, but alas, it runs rampant through me.

Welcome Brother! "It's not a Knife it's a Chris Reeve Knife"
All the best, Dave

Welcome to the family (Addiction).

She's a real beauty, may she serve you well.

I had the same feelings about BM and spyderco as you. Other than a few select models from those companies, CRK has completely won me over. Now my problem is I keep eyeing more CRK models and variants to buy; not because I'm left wanting, but it's because I want more. Welcome to the start of your CRK addiction. :)

Congratulations on your first CRK and may you have many more.

BTW nice choice.

It's funny because today I also got the clip I requested from BM for my beloved 940 which was my first "good" pocket knife, and it's a good iteration with perfect centering and zero play. As I put on the new clip, I looked at both and while the 940 is nice, and what I consider a BM classic, there's just no match when comparing it to CRK. I appreciate pride in quality and manufacturing and being the best. Knowing you've got the best and not just "good enough" is a nice feeling.

Thanks for the kind words and warm welcome! Here's an updated pic with the new lanyard I like much better. I'm still deciding on my method of carry, clipped or pocket sheath, and I really like the way this knife carries in the pocket sheath. I can get my phone and sheath both in my pocket side by side and they're not banging around against each other. If I go with clipped, the lanyard will have to go. I'm going with no clip today, and IMO it makes the knife MUCH more comfortable in hand, and actually makes opening and closing the knife easier. The only downfall to pocket sheath carry is quick deployment in an emergency.

Congratulations, if at all possible do not sell it. You'll end up buying another one once you come full circle.

No plans to sell. :)

The toughest decision is which one to buy next....possibly a wood inlayed small? I'm a sucker for a nice wood inlay. The hardest part is picking out which wood to get. :) may let the wife pick between that and a Mnandi for a Xmas gift...she thinks CRK's are "so pretty" lol.

Ha, that's what my wife said about my small 21 with wood inlay. Congrats. I like the small much more than I thought I would. I purchased the 25 first and it's still my favorite but the wood inlay is really a looker. I call them beauty and the beast.

Without the clip, I've found that the cutout doesn't bother me too bad though I'll probably still end up getting a clip insert. Does anyone else carry theirs without a clip and no insert?

I'm on the hunt for a 21 with inlays or carbon fiber, this is the fun part (the hunt)
