Hey guys, I am in the market for my first Sebenza 21 and the only problem I'm having is deciding between a large or small. I am a fan of larger handled knives but I fear the large sebenza might be too large. Any help would be appreciated :). Thanks

Thanks for the pics :), that helps a lot. Its looking more like a large would be better.

Yeah, they aren't too big. The small is good to have if you're in an urban environment but I've used the large before out and about but it's mainly my hiking or out in the yard knife. Or weekends.

The large is not that big at all. The small is a bit smaller than that. For the relatively small $$ difference, the large gets my vote every day of the week. You get so much more knife for an extra $50 or so. If your spending $400+ on a knife, $50 is a small price to pay for something a lot larger. Out of the 20+ sebenzas that I have, I only have like 4 smalls I think. I just dont carry them. The large does everything I need and is much more comfortable in my hand. Most of mine are regulars, but I have several 21's and my thoughts are the same.

Large it is, Thanks a lot :). Also, either of you have any experience ordering from KnifeArt? I hear a lot of good things about them but never ordered from them and might try them out.

I have ordered a sebenza or two from them and service was excellent. The sebenza 25 being my most recent purchase from them about a year ago. Edged Specialities, a forum supporter also has some really nice ones as well.

If you're a fan of larger knives, the large is for you, no question. The small is pretty compact, and fully capable, but still pretty small. The large seems, to me, about average for a ton of folders and a great size. I carry a large. I wish I had a small again for work where I'm not convinced a large is permissible in my work. If you /need/ small, go small, but if you already like larger, it's such an easy choice.

The large is a great choice ! I carry a small but if I didn't have other knives it would be a large for sure

I had the same dilemma. I picked up four CRK's in the last month. My first purchase was a small Sebenza unique. Then a Mnandi, followed by a large Sebenza and then another small. In my world the small is a large knife. The large is bigger than anything I will ever carry and the Mnandi has become my favorite to carry for use around work. (I'm in an office environment... so opening cardboard boxes, and splitting an apple is a big day.)

I will continue to collect unique smalls simply because I like them, I also see several more Mnandi's in my future. Likely will keep the Large as to not forget and repeat offend down the road.... or make a trade someday for a nice Damascus Mammoth scaled small or Mnandi.

While I prefer the small, I doubt you will find the large too big unless you work in an office that stresses political correctness.

Thank god I don't work in an office. Nothing politically correct where I work lol. I am pretty excited though :D. Will post pics when i get it.

I have had two smalls in as many years..Both were sold off as they never got any pocket time. Large hands..the small just didn't seem to fit me very well.
Over the past several years, I have been questioned at work. My regular carry used to be an Umnumzaan..after receiving several comments on it, I ordered a large micarta Insingo.
The comments all but stopped because the blade shape wasn't near as intimidating. Great knife..but, it's just not suited to the tasks I ask of it.. After having a conversation with an HR rep, I made the decision to get a bit more aggressive blade in the large Sebenza 25. The fact of the matter is, I am surrounded by tools that could potentially be more devastating than a pocketknife..(machinist) and the Sebenza is just another tool in my collection of tools to compliment my job.

Cubicle dwellers LOL

I had a small insingo and it was pretty uncomfortable to hold. I had several hot spots from the pocket clip and bottom edge of the knife. Loved the blade shape though. It was difficult to cut fruit without getting juice in the pivot, which was annoying. I just got a large tnk tanto and I love it. The blade shape is superb for everything. Enjoy your seb!

Just my .02, I recently got my first two CRK's a small Insingo and a large regular blade shape.

The Insingo flips open very easily and with not much force, no wrist whatsoever.

The large takes a bit of finesse to open for me it opens just fine but not as easily with the same amount of force on the thumbstud. Just thought you should know!
