First CRK opening in pocket?

I took the plunge into CRK with a small inkosi. I have had this knife for one week and have been carrying it every day. I love it and I am excited to get a large CRK to go with this one asap.

Here is the issue. In the last week I have had about three instances of reaching into my pocket and finding it open slightly. One time I was having a problem pulling it out because the tip was snagging on my shorts. Does this happen to others? I have carried many other knives and have never had this happen. The detention ball seems to be perfectly placed into the hole on the blade. I am guessing it has something to do with the thumb studs.

No. Never had that happen. I EDC nothing but CRK's for over two years: Zaans, Larges, smalls, Mnandis.

Could I have a some grease on the ball? I don't really see how that could be avoided with the size of the washers on the inkosi.

Possibly. It couldn't hurt to take it apart clean everything real good and put it back together. Try and clean the detent ball path really well too. You can avoid grease on the pivot if you go easy on the grease. CRKs don't need much. You may also want to check your pivot tightness. May just be a little loose?

Thanks for all the replies! I will try to clean it when I have time to sit down with it. As far as the detent and pivot. The pivot is just barely loose from tightened all the way. Meaning I thightened it all the way and then just broke it loose a little. Zero blade play.

Detent does not feel very strong. First Chris Reeve so compared to my Spydercos, Benchmades, etc it feels normal to light. It just sorta ticks in very lightly upon closing.

Although I've never experienced it with a CRK, it is possible the lock side thumb stud may be hanging up on the inside seam of your pocket.

This is my guess, though I also have never had it happen with a CRK. Is there a common theme with the type of material/ style of the pockets that you had on when this happened?

What I've noticed about CRK's adjustable pivot is that a slight adjustment can make all the difference in the world. A miniscule adjustment should help the detent without effecting the smoothness of the opening action. I would agree also that the pivot may need an adjustment.
What else do you have in your pocket besides the Inkosi ?

I've never had a CRK, including both my 25 and Umnum (ball locks) open in my pocket. I think this is unusual. If it happens more than once (with no blood hopefully), I would send it in to get the lockbar tension reset or checked.

Otherwise, maybe the ball is not dropping fully into the detent hole due to the hole being plugged?

Update, It happened again today. I put the knife in my pocket and walked about a 1/2 mile then when I go to take it out again it was open slightly.

I am going to take it apart tonight and clean it well and make sure the pivot is as tight as possible while maintaining operation of course. If that doesn't cure the issue it may be time to call CRK or BladeHQ.

Someone requested pics so I will attempt to share those here. (Failed)

Performed the cleaning. Don't see any real deference in operation. Only time will tell. Pivot is only loose from locked down by about 1/4 inch at the end of the wrench. So maybe 1/20th of a turn. Still operates fine at that setting. Feels essentially the same as before.

If you pinch the knife by the butt, around the pocketclip area, making sure not to be pushing on the lockbar, can you shake the blade loose, with just up and out or down and out movements of your wrist?
