I found this knife at a local gun store. They said the owner of the store had bought it (he wasn't there) and didn't know anything else about it.

Unfortunately there isn't any kind of markings on the knife but I thought it was gorgeous and the price seemed reasonable. Just thought I'd share some pics. I don't know the wood used but it looks like it might be black walnut.

Looks great! Too bad when good knife makers don't mark their work so it can never be appreciated fully. :(

Both knife and sheath look very well made. Nice score! I agree with AR, makers should mark their work.

The sheath is not the one which came with the knife. It's an extra Bark River one I had which fits this knife very well.

If for no other reason, I wish there was a maker's mark so I could find out what else this maker has available.

Going by the pictures it looks like the typical Pakistani made 'custom' one can find on ebay by the thousands...cheap!

Whenever u don't see a makers mark you know it's Paki

I think you are right! Live and learn & let the buyer beware. Thanks for the info.

the word used to denote someone from Pakistan is Pakistani. The word used here to denote people from that region of the world is generally regarded as racially slurred. Fyi :)

Overly sensitive, eh?

Hello!

Hope you didn't pay too much for it. Nevermind though, I got taken as well several years ago, before all these damascus knives out of Pakistan started flooding ebay - back then it was from a seller, claiming to distribute knives from UK-based makers. These knives were even attributed with english-sounding names... I read on the net later on that these actually were supposed to have come from Pakistan. Here are the two I tried out of curiosity then (of course for quite a bit more than what all those ebay sellers charge these days):

While (to some part) pleasing to the eye, fit and finish was a hit and miss thing, the steel didn't hold an edge for long and the sheats had an almost unbearable stench of chemicals the never went away.

Had I been told about their whereabouts up front, I would not have grabbed them, simply because I prefer to buy from sources where I can be confident about the quality of the steel used, heat treatment etc.

So, it was learn and move on for me as well... ;)

Best regards,
Alex
