Just got back from the Badger Show . . . I picked up a Ray Cover Sr. slip joint. Single blade, about 2.5", dark brown jigged bone scales with red liners. Very crisp, very clean!

Great choice. Ray's knives are always well done at good prices. I consider them a great deal with excellent workmanship. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

I have a couple of Ray's slips and they are some of the best. Excellent choice.

I have been thinking about buying my first custom slipjoint for a while. My favorite pattern is/are stockman and sowbellys. Are there any makers out there that produce these as affordable customs? I am being pretty vague about prices as I don't know where custom prices start. Thanks

Probably the most reasonable maker is Tony Huffman out of Texas.Look in the knives For Sale Maker.
He makes the patterns you are interested in.

I bought my first custom slipjoint this past winter from Ray's son, Jeff. It is a smaller pen knife with a clip point blade of ATS-34, stainless bolsters, and sheep horn scales. Very nice little knife with a stout spring which is always a plus in my book. Fit and finish are excellent! The great thing about SOME custom slipjoints is that they are actually pretty affordable. I picked up mine for $100 even, not bad for all of the time that went in the piece.
