this is what I've been working on the last few days, I still have a lot to do..
rubies will be in the blade and in the ends of the guard
Blade is 1/4" O1 Guard is O1 heat colored , with water Buffalo Horn.
I'm thinking of SS wire wrap also? I'm not sure what I want for a Blade finish yet either..
whacha think so far??

Looks real nice Dan. A good forgin hammer finish would look good. :D :D
A mirror finish on that baby would really make it stand out.

Bill

thanks guys :)
Bill I've been doing a lot of mirroring and not sure on this one. I'm looking for something different on this... maybe acid etched? I'd like to heat blue it but that's to hot for the blade..maybe some low temp salts? or some cold bluing?
the guy paid for this 4 years ago so I want to doing it up nice for him..

I etched the blade and then hand rubbed it 1500 grit

I really like that Dan. The small ruby is a very nice touch.
I've been fairly unsucessful making daggers that come out worth beans.
I'm envious.

Nice Dan! What ever you do as to blade finish, it's a great looking knife,
everything "fits".

Fred

Nice piece, Dan. Nicely designed, it all works very well together. Did you turn the pommel or do it by hand?

That picture sux bad.. I took the picture out side and the light is over it..:grumpy:
there are rubies in the ends of the guard also..:)

Mike the lathe :D the picture came out fussy,,
the pommel steel is from a car strut rod piston, I knew that would come in handy some day :)

No can no do on the brass inlay vine, it's hardened now :)
this was paid for 4 years ago, so it's about time for the customer to get it....

Fred I'm working the blade into a patina finish right now. with the etch
you can see the character of the steel , I wish it would show in the pictures.

thanks Guys :)
