Well, fellas, here's my first Damascus blade etched.
This ended up being 405 layers.
I got a fantastic amount of chatoyance. (3-D)
Next is to finish out the knife and then hot-blue the blade.
The hot-bluing will make that knife come ALIVE!
First is as-forged.

This is just prior to heat treat.

Here I just did a quick dip before hardening to see what I had.

Karl that is AWESOME! it even has some of the pretentious french word going on in it! (like the curl in curly maple but in steel...cant remember the word for it)
I love the recurve edge. It's definantly a piece of art right there!

It's up there in my description - chatoyance.

Great job, Karl! So how does it make you feel when that pattern magically appears in the etch? Does it make you want to go and make some more? One of these days I'll get to that damascus stuff. ;)
