First damascus by me. comments welcome.

It only has about 170 ish.. that picture is bad. And it was only my second attempt at it.

Looks pretty good, are you doing it with a power hammer or by hand? I think the biggest thing starting out is just getting good consistent welds.

Quint,
I started out by hand, setting the welds. Then i used a LG to work the steel. Its not bad. I can only improve. Cause Lord knows, it cant get much worse.

Oh it can always get worse. Atleast ya got a power hammer to help ya out. That helps alot.

I think it looks awesome! I can't imagine how tough that was to make.

I really like the high contrast look with large of black/no layers so you made my favorite! I like the artistic look it has.

Thanks Mr. Fairly. It works for me because i made it. Hats off th those who make it regularly. Being a newby, the time vs returns is not the best. Unless you count it as a learning experience. Then it is time well spent.

For many reasons I buy all that I use and aside from folding hunters, I use only Damascus. I think its fabulous stuff in just a few folds down to the mosaic made patterns. If you can stay with making it for your blades, you will find, buyers of knives love to have the smith involved. The smiths do such lovely work. Their results often encourages me to try something new or different. To see some of my folders with Damascus blades and bolsters, go to customknifegallery.com and scroll down on the left hand side. Frank

More like if it actually stuck together in some fashion, then you could have done MUCH worse.:D
Looks good to me. If no major inclusions you did great for the first time. -Burton
