Well it's been a long time comming.... Been at this knife thing for just over six years(it's gone by so fast!) and here is the first damascus knife to leave my shop. I tried a few times over the past few years and never got anything I thought was any good. I sure learned a lot at Steve Dunns damascus class at the ABS school this past fall....if you ever get the chance GO! and if you get Steve he is a great teacher.
Gonna get this out to Coop for a better photo..., but I had to show it off a little.;)
Steel is 1084 and 15n20...copper and NS guard....Claro feather walnut(that I hope Coop will make look better) NS pins.
Let me know what you think.

Mace,

That blade looks awesome! I was at your shop during the open studio tour and picked your brain a bit. Was this a piece of damascus that you made at the school or did you make it in your shop? Anyway, I was really impressed seeing your work in person and it gives me something to aspire to. Thanks for the time you spent answering all my questions. Thanks also for the tip on the hand engraver down the street from you. I paid him a visit also and he was also very helpful in answering questions related to engraving. Keep up the great work!

Keith

Very nice, Mace.......and welcome aboard, Mr. Knight:thumbup:

That blade looks great. I really like the feather pattern toward the ricasso, it looks like an ostrich plume.

Sexy knife.

About time... I thought you were hibernating, you big ugly bear!

Looks great, bro. I'll bet the finish on the handle that's hidden by that camera flash is scary beautiful. Is this from that same batch of Claro you had?

Very nice work Mace - I like the blade shape and the walnut you chose for the handle is just beautiful.

Roger

Welcome to the Damascus obsession! aint it great? now you can spend 10 times longer making the bar of steel than it takes you to actually make the knife out of it.
That knife looks great by the way, as I would expect from any of your work. BTW, that knife of yours in Blade mag, is that one of the small ones you forged out at Ashokan?

Mace, Just when I thought you were getting pretty good at making knives you go and do this. I feel so bad for you. Send it to me and make another one. Send that one to me, and I'll critique on where you have improved.

Seriously, that is a great knife.
Stacy

Lookin' good Mace-man. Now everyone is gonna expect more and more of that squished-steel stuff from you.

Thanks guys!

Matt, you know one of these days I'm just gonna show up...right?;)

Guys, Mace contacted me via phone today and expressed that he felt slighted by my 'big ugly bear' comment.

Being the kind-hearted and responsible chap that I am, I told him to stuff it.

Great knife, bro... as always, your work seems to improve, even when I think you've approached the limit!

Love ya, pal!

Mace, man, you need to send that to me so I can fix it up for you. :D Very sweet, love the pattern in the Damascus. A+ work all the way around!
