First DE, I think I'm done with cartridges

Well, after some time spent with my DE's I'm totally convinced!

I ended up with a 1973 black handle and a 1946 stainless Gillette. I've used both the blue 7 O'clock Gillette blades and the Derby Extras. I think I like the Derby blades a bit more.

Overall, it's been a great switch from cartridges, I don't think I'll ever go back. I've been using Crew Shave Cream in the tube, which I've used for a long time with cartridges, and am finishing up with after shave balm from Baxter of California. The shorter handle has not been a problem for me at all since I usually tend to choke up on my razor anyway. My two little daughters keep rubbing my face saying how much smoother it is:D Really glad I decided to give the DE's a try.

Back in days of yore when I was young I liked Gillette Super Blue Blades far better than anything else. They were made of carbon steel, not stainless. I just read that Gillette Shanghai makes a modern Super Blue that's now available, or will be soon, in the US. The comments I've read about them have been very positive.
