I pulled it off! A bunch of doe's were around me for about 45 min. and it all came together. I got the dominant doe of the bunch. Got her broadside at about 20 to 25 yards. I want to go back in tomorrow and see if I can find my arrow!! She ran about 40 to 60 yards. Man its such a thrill with a bow. She had me made in the first 15 min when my top half of my climber started sliding down :) I eased it down with one hand and help bow with the other. She stomped at me.....circled around and led the group. Does followed her around and she circled the group in a big S and I stuck her in the top curve of the S she made around me.

Got to love the movability of a climber stand!!

Crew Cab is a great do all pack!

Kifaru Tailgunner is a great lumbar pack and I use it in front as a bow holder when whitetail hunting! Plus carry my stuff.

A stick is cheaper than a truck I guess :) only thing I could think of since I go out alone.

Congrats to you Sir !! I'm still waiting to get my first deer with my recurve..

When you do it will be something to remember the rest of your life. I well remember my first one and every odd event that led up to it. I was taking a break. Sitting in the open on a stump. Eating a sammich! Best of luck.

Brain, congrats! You might look into a reciever hitch rack for your SUV. A lot cheaper than a truck! J.C. Whitney and every one else sells them.

Yeah. I'd love a hitch!! But good to know a stick and knots still do the trick :) sort of egyptian style ha ha!!

I'm going to have to remember your tie down method for my xterra here in a few months when I hit the woods.....;) Nice kill

Since up your hitch knots little by little. Then tie on 1. More rope per side and hoist up each side more. Then retighten first set of ropes. Or just buy 2 cheap pulleys!!!!! I should have thought of that before tonight dang it :)

Thanks for sharing Brian. Well done on the archery deer!

What climber do you have? I bought a Summit, but haven't used it yet.

Bruce

I have an older summit. I like it a lot. I'm sure the newer ones I'd really love!

you go man! congrats on the nice doe! dont you love it when they think they got you but they dont? ill bet your heart was racing a mile a minute. i have yet to bow hunt. part laziness and mostly health issues and a few passings in the family. no excuse i know but my heart just isnt in it this year for some reason. now that the leaves are changing i am hoping i get the fever and get my ass in the woods.

oh btw. keep those does around you. now that you got one. leave em. let them be around you.. in the next week or so you may get a nice surprise when her BF shows up in the mix. ;)

Thanks again HS! YUP...No Mo Doe shots :)

if its not too late take those tarsal glands off. store them in the freezer. use them only when hunting. use gloves to take them off and hang them around your stand or target area.. just another VERY effective hint for ya bud. since that does is from that area they will recognize her scent and come in (usually) less guarded. when you get a buck, do the same. if the tarsals smell bad then she is coming to estrus... and hold on boy bc tarsals are the oldest but less known trick in the book. use them as drag rags too. hehe... you are gonna love this stuff man. let me know in detail how it works. seriously

Dang I forgot all about you saying to keep the tarsal gland. That's the gland on the legs barely visible in the foot picture above? Are they on all legs or just rear ones?

use the rear ones. they pee on them from time to time. tarsels are the best not really kept secret in hunting imo. you could toy around with it too. use it as a drag rag. use it as "cover" scent. or you can combo it with some buck urine to make it seem as if a buck is in the terriorty scoping out the ladies. this drives other bucks insane. but then sometimes you wont see a difference. its a trip to watch deer react to certain elements of trickery;)

hey BL, meant to ask if your truck had a hitch. if it does, get a hitch rack to toss your deer on. it will save your paint lol. btw how does one go about purchasing one of your knives? i am very interested
