Ok, I lied. I briefly had an Emerson Horseman and while I didn't have issues with it, I just never warmed up to the chisel grind and traded it away pretty quickly.

Fast forward to now and I think I'd like to give them a second try. I'm currently in a small blade phase and I prefer a 3" blade +/- but I'm not adverse to 4" for the right knife.

I think the Mini Commander is a good place to start but I figured I would check and see what you guys think or suggest.

Thanks for you suggestions!

Cqc 7 is my vote v grind/chisel/A/mini, take your pick.

Mini commander is also a good choice though i prefer the regular sized commander.

To keep it at 3" I agree with the bulldog and mini 7. However j would like to suggest the mini roadhouse. It has an awesome handle and a very usable blade shape for EDC. Honestly the grip is the best part of the mini roadhouse. You have to feel it to believe it

I second the roadhouse but for me I'd at least go full size. My super seems just right.

Mini CQC-7 - full handle but smaller blade -

The CQC-7 is the classic in my opinion.

best

I like the Gentleman Jim because, for me, it carries smaller than it is. The blade shape kind of reminds me of a baby Bagwell bowie. :)

The CQC-7's and 15's are great.

But as to your question, I think the micro-Commander might be an even better fit for you. The Commander blade scales down so well to this level. It's 2.9" but it looks and works like about a 3.25. Pretty amazing. Consider it.

I think the smaller blades will only get you wanting the larger ones... go full sized for your re-introduction. Of the ones I listed, the Super 7 I just picked up a couple weeks ago has not left my pocket. I had an uncoated Super 7 that I gifted, and decided on a black plain edge this time around. It's the newer model with the standoffs and w/o the year on the blade... and it is the best Emerson I've had yet.

Good luck choosing and post some pics when you get it.

I was going to suggest the mini Roadhouse, but agree with what has been said; and Aias makes a great point, just get a regular size one, unless you really want a small blade; personally I don't like small knives or anything mini, but that is because I have large hands. All good suggestions above for sure.
