After trying out pretty much every "major" manufacturer at some point, I realized I never had an Emerson. So, after browsing all of their models, I decided I liked the Commander design the most. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to track down any of them besides the Super Commander which is just a bit too big for my taste. Luckily, I was offered a Micro Commander in the exact configuration I was after- pain edge, stonewashed blade, in a trade. Fast forward to today, I finally got my Micro Commander in-hand. I think I may just have to get a couple more Emersons. Sure, the f&f isn't totally perfect but it feels great, works just as well and in the case of the Commander models, looks very cool IMO. Now, I have to figure out which one to get next! :D

nice computer!! even nicer knife after i got my traveler i loves emersons the ergos are great. although i would only get coated blades from now on. the satin rust like crazy for some reason. i have had other blades in 154 cm and they dont rust as bad. other than that its a top notch knife!! kinda feels like a mans knife lol

Thanks guys. Stinkyspice, the rust thing kind of worries me. Hope I don't have the same issue with mine. I really don't like coated blades on most knives. I agree, it does feel like a "man's knife". Reminds me of my Strider. Might be the g10 and thick blade. The Micro Commander blade is actually just slightly thinner than my SnG which is significantly larger. The MC is a really stout little knife. Like it a lot.

Congratulations, I love my Super Commander but it is rather large, My next will be the Commander.
My P-Sark is at Emerson right now getting a new blade installed.

Nice pic. I want to get a Commander next. Maybe a Mini instead. Any reason the screws are towards the middle of the scales on the Commander? or is it just different for no reason?

The rust issue might be your body chemistry, too acidic and it accelerates oxidation. For the most part it is rare that you ha of 154CM rusting out, it seems to be fairly stainless and is highly regarded for that quality. Another factor could be the tropical climate in addition to the acidic chemistry. Ernie Emerson posted in a thread about that issue with some people that simply look at a knife and it develops a bit of patina. If you haven't noticed rust on any other knives with simlar steel, or rust on the liners of any knives, then it will not be an issue me thinks.

Thanks for the info Rev. I have never had an issue with 154CM rusting so I don't think it will be an issue.

The Commander in that pic sure looks like a fake. Emerson never used Torx screws. They usually show up on the fakes. And the serrations are wrong, too.

cevtv- I didn't even notice they were torx. It does seem like it may be a fake. I hope M.W. didn't get ripped off if it is.

You guys are sharp!! No pun intended, It is a fake. I ordered it through Amazon and the minute I opened it I knew something was wrong, So just to be sure I e-mailed Emerson and they confirmed that it was a fake, I tried to deal with the company that shipped it but got no response so I contacted Amazon and they put through an A to Z claim and a week later I got every penney of my money back, And they didn't want the fake so I gave it to my brother to use at jobsites he gets sent to for scraping mortar off molds etc...
I just used it as a matter of size comparison. That's why I posted that my next Emerson will be a Commander, But a real one this time.
And the fake was only about $30 bucks cheaper than other prices I found so I expected the real deal. Bottom line: Amazon is reliable.

Glad to hear you didn't lose any money on it!

I largely prefer the Super Commander to the regular sized Commander but that's just me. Interestingly enough, the Super Commander is actually the original size as Emerson designed the model for certain SEALs but it was scaled down to become the Commander.

That is amazing that Amazon backed you and you got your money back. That will make me want to buy things on Amazon from now on.

Amazon has always given me good service. Glad all went well. As for my next Emerson, It will probably be another Commander model or a CQC-15. Love the blade shape on it.

Do you find the micro commander to be too small? I'm looking to buy my first commander and I can't decide if the micro is too small

I've six Emerson's at this time. My favorites are the Snubby GC-14 and my recent Gentleman Jim.

I think it depends on how large your hands are. I have medium size hands and it fits just fine for me. It's roughly the size of a small Sebenza. Also around the same size as a Delica 4 but the handle is just slightly shorter.
