First ESEE knife?

I started with the Izula and well many more will be coming my way :D. You can't go wrong any where you start, all that matters is that you start, and then you will end up with many many more :)

Where can I get a HEST??? Iacchus has me scared I can't get one!

You can get one still, but I wouldn't wait too long.
I think KnifeWorks is out of stock right now, but are getting 200 more in (of course, until they do, that is unhatched chickens)

Pelton will make another (the HEST II) I am sure, but when he does, and who will produce it is still very much up in the air.

The Rowen manufactured HEST is by far my favorite fixed blade to carry. Jeff has also stated that the ESEE/Rowen HESTs will keep their ESEE warranty (in case anyone was wondering)

google is your friend, buy your old style hest here, but i think that DPX will make it again with no ESEE markings.

Thanks. I did google, and like your link, no one has it in stock. I guess I will preorder it then. Thank you.

I am curious.. what is the relationship of DPX and ESEE? Am I getting a lesser product if I get what you believe may be a new run in a non-ESEE product?

Thanks for the info! I will try to research the HEST, but honestly I am confused. ESEE knife.. designed by Pelton, manufactured by... Rowen?

Rowen manufacturing makes the knives for the ESEE line (Rowen has absolutely magical 1095 heat treating).
The HEST was designed by Robert Young Pelton (with help and input from Jeff and Mike, I am sure) during a collaborative period between DPx gear (Pelton's brand) and Rat Cutlery (now known as ESEE).
Pelton's brand (DPx) has now decided to spread its wings and leave the warm and safe nest of ESEE. This was in the works the whole time, from what I hear. The split was totally amicable. RYP and Jeff/Mike have different goals in mind. They just share a love for well built, practical, hard use gear.

The ESEE guys have been known to help younger companies get into the business, and acted as a distribution network in some ways for RYP's gear. DPx was never really an ESEE brand (not like Izula, R.A.T., RC, etc)

RYP, Jeff and Mike are buddies who have all spent much of their life in all manner of dangerous spots in the globe. RYP reportng on warzones, and Jeff and Mike training folks how to survive. This friendship blossomed into a decision to do a knife together (the H.E.S.T.), when DPx was in its infancy.

I hope that clears things up somewhat.
