First ever knife? How old were you when you got it?

Before my collection started? 15. My brother gave me a tourist SAK from France, I decided to dull it for some reason not sure why.
When I started my collection? 20. I was super depressed, sitting alone in my room all day in college. Eating pizza every day, stacking up the boxes left and right, but I eventually had to invite people in so they could hang out. I decided to get a boxcutter, but I wanted a cool one, so I googled best knife, got my CKRT Drifter and the rest is history

I was somewhere between 6 and 8. I'm 65 now, so either one is a long time ago.

Hmmm, I've got the same exact stats...both age and first knife. Could we have been separated at birth?
(No wonder I felt comfortable handing you the reins.)

I can't really remember NOT having a knife. As a child I spent a lot of my time in rural Argentina and kives were as much a tool as a cultural item.

I had my own since I was six or seven. There's a knife in my family that serves as a training knife. I don't know who started that tradition, probably my grandfather. My little brother has it now since he was the last "child" (he's 30 now!).

My first folders were SAKs. City folks didn't look kindly on my large fixed blades (apparently urban children didn't own any guns either), so my dad bought me one (a Huntsman). I was also a huge McGyver fan, too

Would have been 7-8 yo. I remember getting a cubscout pocket knife as a present. Forget if it was Xmas or birthday. It was of unknown manufacture and now, also of unknown location. Disappeared long ago.

Probably 10, 12, thought it was SAK Spartan tool set, $ $bm 0 but found out it is a Pradel, French!
I'm 65 now, had to be over 20 yesrs when I found it in the attic. At northeast Bronx, way north of the city, we carved initials high up in trees by the old mansion, carried while fishing down the end of the block. (Shorts, no shirt or shoes all Summer).
Parents knew we had pocket knives but had no worries. It was a tool for kids brought up correctly!
So far from the city so no worries, except ....... NYPD.... run guys! ;)

I’ve been carrying a pocket knife since I my parents let me start carrying a 3 blade traditional of some sort on my 10th birthday. I also got an SAK, and those were what I carried for many years. I got into modern folders only within the past decade.

I’m 41 now, so it has been awhile.

I was around 7 or 8. My dad bought me a Camilius Cub Scout knife when I joined up. I still have the knife and keep it oiled and put away.

I was a very young redneck hillbilly from WV still in diapers. Dad gave me a pen knife for my 0 birthday. I had a little white pouch I kept her in. Knife still smells like it. :poop:
Mom changed me one time, found it and kept it.....Dad gave it back.

my first knife I think was a shrade old timer 80T that my grandpa gave me. I believe I was around 8 or 10
I was 3, probably not the best idea, and it was an MOP Gerber Silver Knight given by my grandfather. I think I actually took posession of it when I was 6 and some time after it was stolen off of our porch. I've always meant to track down another, but never got around to it.

I was in the Boy Scouts around 10-12 years old, and had a Western lock back in a belt sheath. Sadly I can't recall what ever happened to it.

I was 10 and the knife was a Buck 425, my parents took me to get it after a lot of begging and pleading. Little did my parents know I'd been carrying a TRIM TRIO for a few years that I found in the bathroom :) so if that counts I was 8.

I can't ever remember not having a knife, I had several Rambo style knives as a kid. I was born in 81 rambo came out in 82 I would guess I was 4 or 5. I almost always carried a small Schrade to school with me..

My first official knife was a Cub Scout knife when I was around 8 years old. I do remember even back then how hard it was to open as a slipjoint. I sort of lost interest in knives until in my 20s I picked up the first version of a Spyderco Delica with the integrated clip. From there I have went through so many knives I can't even count. I would say that the Delica is the single knife the really lit the collecting and using fire over the years.

I think I was gifted a really shitty folder from my dad as a neat looking piece but it was all show. Later, he bought me my first hunting knife. I used my step-dad's 110 or a kitchen knife once we got back to the house before that since I used to only successfully hunt small game at that point in my life. Still a pretty terrible deer hunter since I don't sit still real well.

Just realized buck has markings on the tang to tell the age of the knife, I must have gotten this in 5th grade, 1997. Probably shortly after I got a single-shot 12-gauge for Christmas. I picked up a new sheath for it a few years ago. Unfortunately, I don't hunt much anymore after moving to the city for college and work.
