First ever Spyderco knife...

A can opener on the end of my Spyderco would be a great idea. I find myself carrying a SAK with me since last time I took the family to a hotel I left my SAK at home. I didn't have anything to open a can of baked beans with...
Of all the tools on a SAK, aside from the blade, the can opener and screw driver are what I used the most.
The addition of a can opener/screw driver would be a giant leap forward for an outdoor Spyderco.

Grats on your Spyderco...my first I picked up in the PX in '90, was an Endura. You can't go wrong.

On another note...

Holy crap! A Spyderco Boy Scout knife would be great.

Keep us posted on the Scout knife. I just bought a D4 two weeks ago. It is my first Spyderco also. I got interested in knives again after making a couple of fixed blades in O-1 tool steel. I'm a scout leader and we have started an older boy program in our troop to keep the high school aged boys interested. One of our first projects is making a kit fixed blade knife (Russell Green River). But, the boys would really have liked to make a folder, since they are not allowed to carry sheath knives on campouts.

Hi MdWilson,

Welcome to the Spyderco forum and thanx for the input.

As we get more involved in the scout project, I'll be sharing input and will appreciate all of the input I can get, especially from scouts leaders.

A kit knife is an interesting idea, thanx.

A scout knife sounds great:thumbup: Thats one of the things I love about Spyderco, they'll make knives for MANY markets. Its not all about the bottom dollar to Sal, which is very rare in the production knife world. Only a true lover of knives could opperate this way. Hats off to you Sal:thumbup:

wongKI, Welcome and congrtas on your first! My first Syderco was also an Endura I bought back in the 80's. Still use it on most fishing trips. A true classic.

It may be a bad idea to add a compass on a knife, since all my knives get dropped a lot. A larger lanyard hole would be appreciated so I can teach my juniors a greater variety of knots to put on it.
