First experience with Spyderco customer service...

I gotta say, interesting stories have a twist at the end, and this probably qualifies.

I bought the knife in question and it arrived today, but I didn't read this thread until after I received the knife.

I'm confident this will work out OK.

Thanks,

chad: have I take your words out of context? if I did, correct me.
You may have not directly discourage people from using Spyderco's customer service, but as you can see from some of the posts in this thread, your reaction (or shall I say overreaction) have others to doubt whether Spyderco could perform their ordinary warranty service without your kind of experience. Afterall, Sal did see this and I'm sure he had smartened up the Warranty team one way or an other.
KBR: I did relax, by having a couple of beers myself... afterall I've just finish this stupid psych paper and could use a break myself. I had to rant because I've both experience excellent and not so good warranty service, and I really think chad was overreacting. Also I was really ranting because I was sick of doing my psych paper :p

Calyth, I never said you took me out of context.

You are also entitled to think I over reacted, I don't need to feel like people agree with me. Keep in mind the original post was before I ever received my knife back and had just gotten a call from Mike trying to pick a fight with me. Out of character for him or not, it happened.

That combined with the knife coming back with nothing I had asked for done to it and a letter not reflecting them having looked at my problem compounded the matter.

Think what you like, I'll stand by my choices.

Edited to add: If people are a little more apprehensive using Spyderco service then good. It's better for them to go in expecting the possibility for a negative experience and be happily surprised than for them to go in blindly based on the rave reviews here at BF like I did.

Spyderfolks,

I got home last evening to find that my two knives recently sent in to the W&R centre for retipping and sharpening were awaiting me; delivered in yesterdays mail. I was glad to see that Customs hadn't assigned any import charges, as I was a bit worried they might.

The knives are beautiful! The tip of each; which I had successfully rounded off through careless sharpmaker technique has been restored to their factory "needle point" status and both are extrememly sharp. One of these knives was a Police model, and what is a Police model without it's tip, I ask you? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

So anyway, I just wanted to pass along the report of my good experience.

Jeff/1911.

Unc, i'll have your Dyad up and runing soon for you.
The only comment i can add to this thread is that the warranty is voided by taking it apart, even though i do it myself to my knives and now to customers of mine.
I'm in no way endorsed by Spyderco to work on their products, I can however make it right or my small venture is over.
So if it's a warranty issue with anyones knives i'm sure Spyderco will do their best to resolve it for you.
If i can help anyone out with any NON covered changes, by all means let me know.
BTW Glockman mail me and i'll make yours a lefty for you post haste. Ron

Ron,

I STILL want (NEED) my right-handed Police converted to left-hand (via the clip being moved to the other side), but I'm so darn flat broke right now that I can't even afford the postage to send my Police model to you to have that done.:(.

As soon as (if ever :() I get a few bucks ahead, the Police model will be on its' way to you for your attention.:).
