Hello everyone,
I have been making some knives for the California Custom Knife Show in Oct and decided to try something new.
I have loved this pattern ever since I saw it, so I decided to try it out. Because I only have a hand hammer to forge it I ended up doing 3 billets at a time and then combining them for the forge weld before the stack for each knife.
The first one had around 9 layers and went straight into crushed W's.
After that one was finished I did another with 9 layers in the starting billets, cut and stack to get 27, and then did crushed W's.
Here is the result of all the work.
Those was the first one, it has a mokume guard and some of Ben Greenbergs biased black palm.
And the second one has cold blued steel fittings, nickle silver and black G10 liners, and a beautiful piece of Koa, also from Greenberg woods.
I just did the handles today so there is a little clean up stuff to do.
Please let me know what you think!
