First Fehrman

If Cryo. does not do that much for 3V then I would think that 3V blades would not get brittle in colder areas like Alaska or Sweden.

These two things are not really related.

Crucible in general promotes multiple tempers vs cold treatements and while they can both reduce austenite formation, they do so in very different ways and multiple tempering doesn't do it on every steel but cryogenics does and also has additional effects on the carbide precipitation and form. There are a number of threads on this on SwordForums where I cited papers in this regard.

The effect it has on toughness is in some dispute, I have seen arguements that it does nothing, makes it tougher or makes it more brittle by both makers and actual published materials papers. It also depends on how you temper it after cryo because you can for example use the additional hardness gain to increase the tempering and produce a steel with the same HRC but less retained austenite and more tempered martensite.

Thanks, Ron! Sounds like my hands may be a little bigger than yours, since I can't get into a small, while a medium is a little narrow, and a large is way to long in the fingers(gloves give me fits).
Looks like I might make it to Blade Show this year, since I just found out the dates don't interfere with a conference I go to that's normally the same weekend, so if I make it I'll be sure to check out the full-size Fehrmans.

Don't overlook the "small" Peacemaker. Once you get it in your hands, you'll see what I mean. Take a little extra money with you.... :D
