First Few Attempts at Flat Grinding

So this was my first attempt at grinding a knife. It's .160 thick 0-1. I know my plunge line on the one side is a bit off. Can you give me tips on how to fix that mess up ?

Second the heel of the blade is about .085 thickness and the tip is .03 is this too much of a difference ?

Also what thickness would I want before sending to HT ? (on the edge)

I went from a 36 grit ceramic to a 45 trizac then to a 65 trizac. It was much easier to control the grind and the knife using the trizacs

I'm really impressed with the progression. Can someone list there favorite belts for the CM 2x42 pre HT

Thank you,

Chavez

Not offering any real advice, but the trizacs get finer as the numbers go down. The 65 is coarser than the 45. It is a different numbering system. Trizacs go 160,100, 65, 45 and 30. The 30 is a very fine finish.

HUH? you sure?

They are numbered by particle size, not by screen size like sanding sheets. The bigger the particle, the larger the belt number. The European sizes with a P are not exactly the same as ANSI, but are close enough for practical purposes. Here is a good chart to save for comparing belts. http://sharpeningmadeeasy.com/grits.htm
