Went to HD to check out the welding cart but ended up with the 3 tray cart instead due to weight capacity of 450 lbs. Drilled a hole in base of the Mimi and the top tray, mounted, hooked up 20 lb tank and lit it up. Everything did not stay pristine and neat for very long.
Others may disagree with this, but I have been told by an experienced smith to keep my hammer heads away from direct heat. Apparently it dries out the wood, making the hammer head come loose before its time. Anyway, it's something to consider.
Yes, that's definitely the case. The hammers only hang there while being stored inside the shop. When I roll everything out to use they are placed on the middle shelf of the cart (I actually have to move the hammers before I move the cart as they turn sideways and fall looking for errant toes to fall on ).
Thanks for pointing that out, may save someone a problem with a loose head!
One thing I lost with this cart vs the welding cart was a place for the tank. I'm thinking about moving the middle shelf and mounting a 20lber on the lower shelf. Plenty of room there, gonna think on that a bit.
