Here is my first folder!
I spent a week with Alex K. Daniels and learned how to make lock-back folders. It is 4" closed and 7" opened.
The blade is Damascus and the scales are Ebony (Black as coal)
The liners are 6AL4V titanimun and the bolsters are stainless steel.
The blade lines up exactly in the center of the liners and has no play (either side to side or up and down) when opened. The snap of the blade when it is opened is impressive.

Let me tell you, It's a whole different world making folders when your used to stright knives. The equipment in the shop is different and the mentality is different also. I plan to make others, but this is the first! What do you think?

Nice looking knife. I see a thumb stud and also what appears to be a backspring. Slipjoint or lockback?

I think that this explains your question.

It has a Damascus backspring. The thumb stud actually spins when you open or close the blade. and was peined into a tapered hole intill it just barly moved, filed down and cleaned up. I am left handed and find it hard to open folders with my right hand (sometimes), the spining thumb stud makes it easier. I'm used to larger knives like this one.

Dude, Keep making the folders! I just got laid off, if I hadn't been I would be sniffing around after that beauty!
 
Thanks for the kind words, sorry about the lay off Temper.

I have a nice piece of twist pattern Damascus in the shop that would make a nice folder blade. Along with some Mammoth bark scale should make a nice folder.

In fact the folder was welcomed very well at the Bladeshow and sold about 1/2 hour after the Bladeshow opened. The collector who purchased the knife allowed me to keep the knife until after the show ended this afternoon.
I have taken orders for #2 and #3 was waiting for me in my e-mail.

It is truly wonderful to be appreciate this well with only one folder under my belt.

The Bladeshow was very good to us, and both of the knives I believed would pass for master Bladesmith were inspected, and accepted by all the Master Bladesmith's I found over the weekend.

I am truly on cloud 9
