I just finished my first folding knife -- a friction folder. It was easier than I thought, and quite a bit of fun making. I think I like them.

Blade: 2.75" 1084 steel
Handle: African Blackwood
Liner/pins: Stainless Steel (from hardware store)
Stop Pin: Hardened O1

My pivot pin is a sex bolt from Fastenal, with a mating piece with an identical head from Menards.

Looks good! I'd be proud of it if I made it. I just finished my first lockback folder and man, I've got a lot more appreciation for the guys that make folders. Nice looking grinds on that blade!

Way to go Mike !

You beat me to it, LOL. Thats a very nice design for an edc. My suggestions would be put a little more radius around the perimeter of the handles and work on refining your fit and finish.

Other than that she looks great !

That is sweet. You beat me to it too! I like the blade shape. That sex bolt gives it a rugged look.

Thanks for all the positive words. Looks like I beat most people to it :p

Josh: I'll probably round a little more next time, but this feel pretty nice in the hand. And I'm still trying to get the fit and finish down...

Defaultuser: Of course it cuts! I can cut jello with it perfectly fine.

Steve: I liked the sex bolt, because it was uniform on both sides, and I could tighten it as I needed, and it's fairly easy to get it apart (instead of just a pin)
