Finally saved enough money and pulled the trigger..now the waiting game.

Im half way through the turn around time given to me when I placed my order. My question is: is it ok to contact the knifemaker and check the progress of your knife? How accurate is the turn around time?

We all know what it's like to have money set aside specifically to buy a certain knife..theres ALWAYS another knife we'd like to buy..the temptation is ridiculous.

It's fine to email them every once in awhile to check on progress, updates ect.

Ok. I haven't really contacted him since placing my order and talking about specs of the knife. Thank you sir

I always keep in contact!!!!! Just ask Alan Davis I have talked to him almost every day!!!:D:D:D He does not mind though because he knows I am CRAZY!!!!:D:D:D

Good Luck with your knife! Kevin :)

I'm sure he'd rather work on his orders than answering "is my knife done yet?" emails..but I would like to know if I have room to play with this money and put back what I spent, before he sends me the invoice.

Try sending an Email that gives him a week or so to respond. Pressure off...

My first custom is in the works and it has been a fantastic experience. Fellow forum member Defaultuser is making me a friction folder and sends me occasional update e-mails with a few photos. A great guy who makes great knives!

Nothing wrong with sending your maker a few e-mails here and there. I think most knife-makers would be happy to discuss the steps and stages involved, especially if you're genuinely interested in the knife-making process, and certainly if you're a paying customer. Just remember the bigger volume makers will have those 'occasional' e-mails in greater numbers as well...

I agree about e-mail or PM's being the way to go when contacting a knifemaker, thus letting them respond when convienent.

That said, I always make myself as available as possible (i.e., cell phone #'s, etc) to let the maker contact me if a question or issue arises.

I look forward to seeing your finished custom.

Big Mike
