First GEC...but which one?

I'm torn between the Pemberton, White Owl, and Conductor...I like different things about them all.

My favorite Case models are the Peanut, Sway Back Jack and medium stockman, though the stockman is a tad long for what I'm wanting right now. The Sway Back Jack is just about the perfect size.

Anyone have comparison pics? Other models that are similar that I'm missing? What is your favorite?

Thanks!

If you're a fan of the stockman, this is hands down my favorite knife. and at 3.5 inches closed it's the same size as the white owl, disappears in the pocket with the added comfort of the serpentine frame. GEC 66 Calf roper:

sorry i don't have all three of the ones you mentioned to do a comparison. I do have a fondness for the 68 white owl though. Weaker pull because of the two blade single spring, but ti's a little big knife, can do a lot for it's size and is as pocket friendly as you could want. The 68 pony Jack is a nice option if you like a bit more or a jack style:

Of the ones you mentioned, the Conductor is the closest in size to your "perfect" SBJ.

First ill say, get a #15 Boys knife lol...

But out of the ones you mentioned...i'll throw another vote in for the #68. Although I have not been able to snag a conductor yet, they do look sharp (pun intended )

I don't tink you could go wrong with the White Owl at all. Here are my two side by side. The ebony clip is right up there with my very favorites. The jigged bone spear is also stunning. That ebony stockman is also a good looking knife. Really anyone of the knives you are considering are winners!

I've got my eye on the Pemberton, as a minimalist EDC choice, when you get it in your hand it'll amaze you, it's quite useful despite it's diminutive size, I think I'd prefer one to a peanut. I own #33 Northfield Conductor, in burnt stag, it's a superb pattern for general use, pretty typical pen knife, very capable knife for most tasks. The bail is a nice aesthetic touch, but that's about it.

My favorite is the White Owl. The new must-have knife just released from them is the Pony Jack.

So many great patterns to chose from, hard to know where to start. I like Jacks, and the Boy's Knife, Pony Jack, 66 Serpentine Jack, or one of Charlie's Barlows is where I'd be going :)

I am not going to suggest any as I don't want to have any moral responsibility for the slippery slope you are about to embark on.

Conductor. You get one of the best blade/handle ratios available and it won't weigh down the pocket. Ideal in my book at least.

Thanks for all of the info and pics! Still mulling it over...

Why does everyone like the Boy's knife so much? I'm not saying I dislike it, I'm just curious as to why so many recommended it.

I have a few GEC knives in various sizes and configurations, I like them all for different reasons, #54 moose is a rugged knife, great for work, camp, food, #47 F&F also rugged and large, #62 courthouse whittler, great knife nice in the pocket 3 blades to choose from, #68 white owl also nice very pocket friendly, and I've been carrying a #92 Eureka jack for two weeks today, and I really find it combines all the features I like in the previous knives I've listed, I like a master spear blade I find them to be very versatile, and I like that the second blade is a coping, it is very pocket friendly like the #62 & #68, but is more rugged like the #54 moose, I would feel very comfortable camping with the #92, I've been using it as a work knife also, the blade is a tad smaller than the #54 with out the bulky weight, the steel liners also add strength to the #92, it's for me the best of both worlds.

I love my Pemberton, about the same size as the Peanut, but with a better main blade in my opinion ( I love and carry both). In the end you will get all three so just pick one as a starting point. These things are like chips, i dare you to have only one! Steven

As someone who regularly carries the larger GEC models (#23,#53). I suggest my least carried GEC knife the #33 Conductor.
Great ratio of blade to handle. I just carry my larger knives next to my wallet when in slacks .....

I picked mine up in the exchange. Here's the sellers pic....

Well you are torn between my favorites so it's hard to recommend one over the other lol. I just want to put another vote out there for a 66 patterned knife whether it be the Calf Roper or the Serpentine Jack. I would venture to say the 66 is my favorite pattern out of my GEC blades but I also very much love my 76 Outlaw Jacks! I have only had my White Owl for a month or so now and I'm really enjoying that pattern as well but I feel like my 66 Jack and Calf Ropers actually ride in my pocket a little better and I just love the frame on them. The only exception to that is I mostly carry my White Owl in my dress pants at work because it is much thinner and lighter. I handled the Pemberton at a knife show and it's a great little knife too but I found myself more drawn to the 25 single blade Little Jack. Basically I haven't helped you at all because as you can tell I love all the GEC patterns I have! I like their patterns that are in the 3-3.5" range as those are what ride in my pockets the best. Good luck in making your choice and you really can't go wrong with any of those and once you get one your still going to want all the others your eye balling! I say just watch the exchange here until one of the knives on your list pops up. I've gotten some great deals here on the exchange and it's much more likely you will get a good blade that doesn't have any flaws or irregularities & if it does the seller will have mentioned them so there won't be any surprises.

Thanks for all of the info and pics! Still mulling it over...

Why does everyone like the Boy's knife so much? I'm not saying I dislike it, I'm just curious as to why so many recommended it.

The Boy's knife/jack just seems to work for so many people. You can get it as a single blade clip or spear or add a pen blade and make it a double.
Just the right size at 3 1/2" and based on the Barlow pattern. Many different handles to choose from, wood; bone; plastic; glow in the dark. Priced right.
The single blade pattern is nice and thin in the pocket. The two blade version fills the hand nicely and also is easy to carry.
