First go at it..

Thanks for all the kind words so far.

so how do the rivets work with this knife, why don't the holes go all the way through?

Not sure what rivets you mean? Do you mean pins for handles? Probably no handles here for this one. Semi drilled holes are for looks/asthetics...thought looked cool.

Did some more sanding today and decided to drill out the rest of the holes I started to remove some weight. I wasn't digging that only one side had them and the other was plain. Thinking of maybe getting some thin micarta or G10 for a slim handle to add a bit of color.. maybe 1/8" thick on each side. Here are some updated pics with some mocked scales I made from cardboard taped on to get a feel for thickness and feel in the had with a scale on.

Ended up taking out the middle hole and just made the opening bigger combining the middle hole. I wasn't digging the lack of spacing uniformity in the holes. I also decided on adding some micarta scales to this one. It's my first knife and I want to try all facets of building a complete knife, and that includes handles. So I ordered up some 1/8" thick black micarta and screws to attach. I also upped my safety gear and ordered a 3M 7500 respirator with some P100 packs.. I'm not messing with my lungs. I also ordered some material to make kydex sheeths and a simple kydex press. Got the good eyelet dies too. I'll use my 20% off coupon at Harbor Freight to get on of their arbor presses if using the dies in my vice doesn't work well enough. Still trying to decide on what way to go with the forge.. 5gal gas, some hollowed fire bricks or coal forge... heck maybe just a hole in the ground for the first few..

Thanks for all the comments.. more to come as I proceed.
