The head on this one was forged from 1086 1" square, is 8" long with a 2 1/2 " cutting edge. The spike was hollow ground to about an 1/8th" on the bottom. After the head was cleaned up, it was put back in the fire for texturing with a 2oz ball pein and fire black finish. The haft is century old barn oak with a carved hand grip, a flamed spiral and a Tru Oil finish. The few decorations are a few copper tacks, a filed decorative element on the bottom of the blade and a forged curl finial and arrowhead haft oranament.

Thanks guys, Stu, coming from an accomplished hawk maker like yourself the compliment means a lot. Hey Bruce, how's it going? You back in the shop?

Thanks a lot guys! Stu I got away from hawks for quite a while for some reason but I hope to keep making more as I really enjoy it.I never really made enough to become really good at it, I think this one makes 8 so far, so I really draw a lot of inspiration from guys like you and Ray that make them so well.

I gotta do a hawk again one of these days,You guys are getting ahead of me now...

John,I am getting in the shop more than I was but not as much as I should.

Bruce

Good to hear that you are at least out there some Bruce. You have way to much talent to be sitting idle:D
