I have quite a few "budget" folding knives that love and am now wanting some suggestions for a "higher" end knife. My ideal price range is around $130-$170.
I am looking for a larger non-assisted modern folding knife. Around a 3.5" blade.

Some things that I would prefer but can live without.
- USA made
- flipper opening

Thanks for any suggestions

Brous Bionic
ZT0200
Benchmade 300

ZT0801 is pushing your price range, but is an amazing knife.

I'd recommend the first one I got.
Zero tolerance 0560
I've seen them go for that price here on the exchange.
New they are around $200
Very much worth it.
Titanium frame lock. Rolls out like glass on bearings. Very very smooth action. Smoother than knives much more expensive

Just picked up my DPx HEST/F Milspec for under $200.

There are tons of choices out there! The ZT0350, ZT0801, ZT0566, ZT0770, ZT0750, & ZT0550 can all be had for under $200.

If you like the styling of the 0801, it can't be beat within your guidelines. I prefer the 0550, but it's not a flipper.

ZT 560 (or 562 if the 560 is too large) would be ideal for you.

The HEST folder mentioned is also a good choice.

I would strongly suggest the ZT 0801 - one can be had easily within your price range here on the forums (I saw a nicely customized on for $140 just today). Pushing your budget a bit, I would even more suggest a Spyderco Southard - favorite flipper that I've handled, and one can be had for around $175-$200 here on the exchange.

ZT 0200 or 801, and if you can live without a flipper, Spyderco Military, Paramilitary 2, or Benchmade Adamas.

I also agree with the ZT 0560. It was my first higher end knife. I paid 260.. But I know you can get it cheaper. Seen one for sale here recently for 150. Its large and kinda heavy but i can honestly say i never notice its there. Tho i am 6'3" 240lbs. You won't be disappointed!

It does have some size to it ( 0560) but it doesn't make me dislike it.
If you worried it's too big , maybe the 0550.
You can't beat the flip of the 0560 though. If you do decide on it, you'll see what I mean. No wrist action at all. It'll flip with just the flip bar, effortlessly.
It's designed by Hinderer. I just got my first Hinderer, and the zt flips much easier for a third of the price.

another +1 for the 0801. Amazing knife.

ZT 0801 is the best production flipper out right now, IMO. All Ti handles, Elmax blade and KVT bearings round out this excellent design.

Another recommendation is the ZT 0550/0551. It's about as rugged as any folding knife needs to be. Classic Rick Hinderer style and utility.

Agreed with Tmack. 0560 was my first flipper as well.. And its butter. Dare say I could pry flip it with my pinky. Elmax steel hasn't let me down yet. I bet the 801 is nice as well tho I've never handled one. Any knife made by ZT is gonna be good

SOG Vulcan VL01/03....one of the best blades in this range IMO.
Benchmade 300 axis flipper
Kizer ki404
Hogue ex02
And, my next purchase...
Dendra Defender!

How about a Northwoods Madison Barlow? It's in your price range, non-assisted, USA made.
