first Hollow grind

I know this is rough, but it's only at 120 and pre heat treat. This is my first attempt at a hollow grind. I flat ground the tip, and then did the hollow on a 12" wheel. ( I hope that diameter is ok for this height grind at 1/8 thick stock). the first pic of the blade looks like uneven grinding, but it's just the light. It's raining today, so no natural light, just the craptastic recessed lighting in my office. thoughts? Also, this tape from USAKM is pretty sweet. I'm no expert ( at all.) but that looks freakin sweet to me! That's going to be a killer blade!

Daniel.

As long as the blade isn't thicker at the edge than the middle, you've got a proper hollow grind regardless of wheel size or height.
I'd say that looks good to me
The only comment I'll make is just purely asthetic in nature. I always try to have the grind line follow the edge profile rather than the spine, unless it's a full hollow grind without any flat at all. Just one of those things that'a more pleasing to my eye.
Well done for a first attempt though!

Looks like a good first attempt at grinding. You can see in your side shot that your hallow is made up of a bunch of different grind passes. It should be one full grind. But good start.

thanks, but if you read my original post, it's the lighting in my office, It's pretty bad. I think the coarseness of the low grit grind is refracting the light across the bevel from the 2 overhead pot lights. Add to that cell phone camera..
Makes it look that way.
