Hi everyone,

Just got back home with the Wingman and tried this and that with it. First to say that it is a compact, affordable pocket tool that combines good (not excellent) materials and basic tools in a Leatherman Wave format (same construction). The pliers are ok and i like the spring loaded action that keeps them open, but obviously the spring is inside the pliers head (coil spring at the axis maybe) which makes me doubt about how long these will work fin without regular cleaning and oiling. I don't know about you but the wire cutters are bad. we've seen wire cutters that overlap when the pliers close and these really work great (like scissors). No such thing here. They work (had to squeeze twice to cut a Cat5 cable), but they do not work well, compared to what we can find on other Leatherman products. The scissors are ok. The blade is way too thin for my taste (it is thinner than a Victorinox blade). That said the liner lock works fine and the blade is sharp, really sharp :-). That combined with the ability to use it without the need to open the tool compensates for the thickness. Thin blades are good sometimes. 420HC... no my favorite but not bad either. The size of the phillips screwdriver will make it impossible to use in tight holes and deeply recessed screw heads.... Both screwdrivers feel strong.

I cant say nothing about the metal file... we'll see. The package opener will make mu life easier a lot! I wish i could deploy it without opening the tool. that would be great, but the designers decided that the scissors are more needed...

Pocket clip - great :-).

Handles comfortable :-). Side play present, i guest that comes with the spring loaded pliers. Not such a trouble.

Size is probably the best thing. this tool is very compact. The middle between the too big ( i need a belt pouch) and tiny ( sitting on the keychain). Pocket carry possible :-)

Polished stainless steel for the tools and outside parts of the handle. Clip also. That makes me pappy as i had rust problems with the Kick.

Tools don't lock in place. there is a spring (very strong one) that keeps them open. Works ok.

So in the end... good tool at lower price. if you had Skeletool or Wave, Charge, Blast... and so on, you might be dissapointed.

I like it and i'll be really curious how long it will last, but my advice is to try it in your hand before you buy it. Hold it, play with it.

Thanks for the nice review, ioerror.

I agree, nowadays, in urban setting the package opener is likely to be used more frequently than the scissors, so IMHO their respective positioning was not very well designed. These scissors are too big to be used for manicure and too small to cut large volume of paper etc., so based on that they are unlikely to need the instant access they have in this tool.

Pocket clip - great :-).

Not so great, especially after mine has fallen out of my pocket 2 times, with one time resulting in an hour long search. Be careful.
